Role Overview
This position involves supporting product development in a lab environment by developing, reformulating, and maintaining coatings and paint products.
Key Responsibilities
Collaborate with a mentor chemist to plan, execute, and analyze experiments; utilize chemical knowledge and lab instruments; input and analyze data; lead individual or group projects; develop innovative products with advanced technologies; perform paint formulation and testing; assist in resolving field, raw material, and manufacturing issues; and apply knowledge of solvent-borne and water-borne chemistries.
Qualifications & Skills
Bachelor's degree in Chemistry or related field with coursework in general and organic chemistry; basic color matching ability; computer proficiency; strong organizational, communication, and analytical skills; familiarity with industrial coatings, color matching software, and laboratory procedures; physical ability to handle lab tasks including lifting up to 70 pounds and working with hazardous materials.
Preferred Qualifications
Degree in Polymers and Coatings; two years of industrial coatings lab experience; experience in color prediction software and industrial market segments.
Additional Requirements
Ability to work in noisy or hazardous environments, operate a computer, communicate effectively, and travel as needed. Must be legally authorized to work and able to pass background checks.
Skills & Attributes
Strong problem-solving, teamwork, and organizational skills; proficiency with DOE, Minitab, Excel, Word; and the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
