JOB SUMMARY
Blueshift seeks a Co-Op/Internship candidate starting in January who will utilize their technical knowledge and practical lab skills to advance Blueshift’s polymer aerogel technology to solve customer needs. During this internship, the candidate will work closely with the Application and Research team to design and develop processes, test methods, execute thermal experiments and thermal validation, generate, and analyze data, and prepare project reports, presentations and providing prereview conference paper. This will include the engineering development of lab-scale techniques for performing thermal tests such as thermal tests at a given environment with various aerogel products.
The other key aspect of the internship will be providing samples to test. The intern will learn about material property requirements and work directly on customer projects to help develop product solutions. ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS: Excellent understanding of heat transfer theory and fundamentals is highly significant. Fabricate sample prototypes based on customer requirements. Ability to plan and run thermal tests at different environmental conditions. Proficiency in writing conference papers is preferred. Minimum experience with CAD (i.e. Fusion360) or thermal modeling software (i.e. COMSOL) is a plus.
Working with a group of Application & Research for design and requirements of a given customer project. Follow all lab safety protocols including use of personal protective equipment (PPE). Minimum experience with MATLAB software or Python programming for thermal validations. ADDITIONAL REQUIRMENTS: Excellent communication skills. Ability to generate, plan and execute ideas to meet project goals. Good skills in documentation, report writing and presentations. Ability to prioritize and manage time effectively. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: Currently enrolled in a university-level bachelor’s program in Mechanical Engineering, Physics or similar disciplines.
Classes/courses related to thermal engineering/management are a high requirement. Laboratory experience and basic understanding of laboratory safety required. Experience using Microsoft office excel and PowerPoint required, additional experience with project management and/or design of experiments software preferred. The expected hourly wage for this position is $18-$25. ABOUT BLUESHIFT Blueshift provides the world’s leading combination of low thermal conductivity, low thermal diffusivity, RF transparency and thinness of profile in easy-to-handle product offerings.
By leveraging our polymer aerogel technology platform, we empower product designers with unique, high-performance solutions that improve the energy efficiency of systems. We invite you to be part of our talented team of thermal management experts and contribute to the development of our groundbreaking technology.
