Job Objective

Responsible for development and execution of acoustic & thermal insulation components primarily in the automotive industry.

**Description Of Main Tasks**

  • Design and develop automotive acoustic and thermal insulation components including composite heatshields (aluminum & PET/Fiberglass), metal stampings, injection mold TPE/TPO components, thermoformed fiberglass, PET fibers, foams, shoddy, and 2D die cut insulation parts.
  • Support development or requests for CAD Design, FEA, prototypes, Value Analysis/Value Engineering (VA/VE), and development of new products for the production plant.
  • Execute technical reviews with customers for in-process quoting products.
  • Attend and support project meetings internally and with customers.
  • Support with evaluating and/or developing products, processes, materials, manufacturing feasibility studies with cross functional teams.
  • Develop serial production concepts through the APQP process, and support prototyping, tool development and trials.
  • Develop and maintain 3D CAD design and 2D prints (GD&T). Support with minor 3D and 2D changes internally and customer meetings.
  • Knowledge of APQP 5 phase process, DFM, DFA, FMEA, CAD/CATIA, GD&T
  • Interfacing with SAP for BoMs, costing, and material information.

**Preferred Skills & Competencies**

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, manufacturing engineering or equivalent
  • 3-5 years of experience in product engineering or plant manufacturing engineering in the automotive soft trim acoustic & thermal insulation industry, injection molding industry or metal stamping industry.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience with the following:
