Job Description

  • Optimize thermoplastics manufacturing processes, including extrusion and compounding operations.
  • Troubleshoot production and equipment issues and implement corrective actions.
  • Develop and maintain manufacturing procedures, process specifications, routings, and BOMs.
  • Provide technical leadership and engineering support for manufacturing projects.
  • Collaborate with production teams to improve safety, quality, capacity, and efficiency.
  • Support product costing, pricing evaluations, and manufacturing feasibility assessments.
  • Train and mentor manufacturing personnel on processes and best practices.
  • Lead continuous improvement projects utilizing statistical analysis and process optimization tools.
  • Communicate with internal stakeholders and customers to support engineering and business objectives.

The Successful Applicant

A Successful Plastics Process Engineer Should Have

  • Bachelor's degree in Plastics, Mechanical, Chemical Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • 5+ years of thermoplastics manufacturing experience.
  • Experience with profile extrusion and/or compounding preferred.
  • Strong understanding of process optimization, manufacturing scale-up, SPC, and Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Proficiency with CAD software; SolidWorks experience preferred.
  • Experience with tooling design, mold flow analysis, and Design for Manufacturability (DFM).
  • Knowledge of costing, quoting, manufacturing routing, and BOM management.
  • Strong troubleshooting, project management, and technical leadership skills.
  • Ability to obtain a DoD Security Clearance.
  • U.S. Citizenship required.
