Primary Technical Responsibilities
- Transfer laboratory formulations into reproducible manufacturing procedures, including raw-material sequence, mixing conditions, temperature, residence time, batch size, and in-process controls.
- Lead scale-up from bench experiments to production batches and establish critical process parameters that control product quality and consistency.
- Troubleshoot batch variability, dissolution or mixing problems, contamination, raw-material variability, stability issues, yield loss, and other technical manufacturing deviations.
- Support technical evaluation of equipment, process modifications, and capital improvements relevant to formulation and chemical manufacturing.
- Design controlled laboratory experiments to determine how composition, concentration, temperature, mixing, exposure time, viscosity, and other formulation variables affect performance.
- Evaluate safer, more sustainable, or more cost-effective alternatives to legacy raw materials when technically and commercially appropriate.
- Maintain traceable experimental records, batch-development records, technical reports, SOPs, test methods, and product-development documentation.
- Use Python, data analytics, and, where appropriate, machine-learning methods to identify multivariable relationships, prioritize experiments, and accelerate formulation and process optimization.
- Ensure data-driven methods remain grounded in chemical mechanisms, experimental validation, and manufacturing practicality.
Client Operations Support
- Work with clients to help develop and sustain their operations, including understanding their materials, operating conditions, and performance requirements.
- Provide technical support to customers on product selection, process setup, troubleshooting, and ongoing performance of Ambion products in their facilities.
- Take part in activities that grow and strengthen Ambion Corporation, such as customer visits, technical presentations, new-application development, and support for sales efforts.
Supporting Operational Responsibilities
- Support safe chemical handling, storage, labeling, waste management, spill prevention, ventilation, and process-change review in coordination with company leadership and qualified EHS and OSHA resources.
- Support production planning, raw-material qualification, supplier technical discussions, inventory decisions, and maintenance priorities where technical input is required.
- Participate in continuous-improvement efforts while maintaining product quality, worker safety, regulatory compliance, and customer requirements.
Qualifications
- Master's or PhD degree in Polymer Science, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or a closely related technical discipline.
- Hands-on experience in specialty formulation chemistry, coatings, solvents, industrial cleaning, surface treatment, or related chemical product development.
- Experience with laboratory experimentation, characterization, technical troubleshooting, scale-up, and documentation.
- Ability to work across laboratory and manufacturing environments and communicate effectively with production personnel, scientists, suppliers, customers, and leadership.
- Strong commitment to occupational safety, chemical safety, environmental responsibility, and disciplined experimental practice.
