We are seeking a dynamic, results-driven Distribution Account Manager - Industrial Formulators - to join our team. In this role, you will own and strengthen relationships with authorized distribution partners and drive profitable growth across indirect sales channels. You will be responsible for distributor growth strategies, performance management, commercial execution, forecasting, pricing alignment, inventory coordination, and portfolio growth. Working closely with distributor leadership, sales teams, and BASF’s commercial, marketing, supply chain, and technical organizations, you will ensure disciplined execution, strong BASF mindshare, and a consistent customer experience.

This role will support sales of core BASF chemistries such as surfactants, polymers, methane sulfonic acid, and APGs.

This role is remote and can be located anywhere in the continental US, with proximity to a major airport as it requires frequent in-person visits to customers and BASF sites with an expectation of up to 50% overnight travel. Ideal candidate location would be East Coast or Midwest US.

  • Developing and executing strategic account plans with authorized distribution partners aligned with BASF’s sales, margin, portfolio, and market priorities.
  • Owning distributor relationships and serve as the primary commercial interface between BASF and assigned channel partners.
  • Managing distributor performance against agreed sales, volume, margin, inventory, pipeline, and customer coverage objectives.
  • Leading regular business reviews, establish clear actions and accountability, and ensure follow-through against mutual commitments.
  • Coordinating pricing, forecasting, demand planning, inventory, and product availability with distributors and internal BASF stakeholders.
  • Driving execution of portfolio priorities, sales programs, customer initiatives, and product introductions through the distribution channel.
  • Monitoring distributor sales activity, customer coverage, competitive developments, and market feedback to identify risks and opportunities.
  • Partnering with commercial, marketing, technical, supply chain, and regional teams to resolve issues, improve the customer experience, and deliver profitable growth.
  • Supporting inter-company transfer business by coordinating with key OD stakeholders to align commercial priorities, pricing, forecasts, supply requirements, and execution.

  • Earned a bachelor’s degree in science, engineering, business, or a related field.
  • Have 5+ years of experience in distribution management, account management, sales, or a related customer-facing commercial role.
  • Have experience managing distributors, channel partners, or third-party sales organizations.
  • Demonstrate success managing account performance, commercial plans, forecasts, pricing, and cross-functional execution.
  • Are experienced in the chemical manufacturing industry and/or surfactant technology.
  • Bring strong commercial judgment, analytical capability, and a results-oriented mindset, with the ability to influence partners and lead cross-functional teams without direct authority.
  • Have excellent communication, negotiation, influence, and presentation skills.
