Role details

-Leadership of the assessment, development, reformulation, quality, maintenance, and enhancement of products through planning, executing and analysis of experiments with clear and accurate results. -Demonstration of innovation, and initiative in developing new project proposals, and R&D programs of key technical and commercial significance to solve real world customer challenges -Development of new products and methods, improve existing products, and solve/prevent problems. -Identifying recommending, leading strategic projects, and assessing technology solutions. -Development of solutions for complex technical problems (product/process) and demonstration of expert knowledge in the use of chemicals, raw materials, substrates and instruments. -Expertise in at least one broad area or a related specialized area. -Preserving technical resource base solving systemic product challenges through reformulations. -Substantiate formula changes with documentation and control lab approval when required. -Provide technical support to customers, sales and manufacturing to help provide an orderly flow of product and information to Sherwin-Williams customers. -Developing new/innovative coating solutions including but not limited to new test method development or improvement that will provide unique solutions to our labs/manufacturing sites and differentiate us to our customers -Understanding the company’s customers, markets and business aspects. -Mentor and coach any technical level professional. -Lead multiple technically complex projects at one time. -Use of SDS and raw materials management system . -Adherence to safety policies and laboratory documentation. -Has the ability to independently lead projects and groups without any direction from a manager and only briefly updates their manager on work progress accountability for all aspects of work REQUIRED:

Must have

a Bachelor's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math field.

Must have

at least 11 - 15 years of experience in coatings products development, Operations, Quality, Technical, or Sales Flexible work schedule to adapt prioritization changes and needs Strong written and verbal communication skills Presentations skills Results oriented Program knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, and Access, Minitab Demonstrated success in leading Root Cause investigations and analysis tools Previous direct customer interaction Knowledge of more complex problem solving and error proofing skills Demonstrated problem solving, project, and program management skills for the complex issues.

System knowledge of Watson, MES, Product Vision, Discovery, and MES Ability to travel domestically and internationally for work. PREFERRED: Program knowledge of Business Objects Demonstrated ability to lead a cross functional team to a successful outcome PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Must be able to sit, stand, hear, and see on a constant basis. Must be able to walk, write, and type on a frequent basis. Must be able to lift and carry up to _50_ pounds. Must be able to climb and descend stairs. Must be able to bend, carry, reach, push, and pull on an occasional basis. Must be able to communicate verbally and in writing. May work indoors and outdoors as needed.

Exposure to heat up to 120 degrees and cold to 0 degrees. May work in areas where noise level is such that hearing protection is required. May work in areas where toxic, flammable, and hazardous materials are present. May be exposed to varying amounts of dust and dirt. Work surfaces may include concrete. Employee must be able to tolerate non-toxic paint odors and be able to wear a respirator as required. Employee must be able to operate a computer and communicate via telephone. Some travel to other locations, meetings and/or seminars is required. Required: Program Leadership - Primarily facilitating program leadership.

Examples of programs: Opportunity Rex, Business CIPs, Pipeline, Continuous Improvement Lead, Mass change Lead. Autonomy - Relies on peers for day to day tasks and direction on investigations. Business Knowledge – A basic understanding of SW’s business units, products, Operations, and processes. System Knowledge - Working knowledge of the basic functions and benefits of the SW systems (PV, QAD, Batch tracking, Horizon etc) Data Acquisition - Completed formal training and is able to acquire raw data and make recommendations. Continuous Improvement Knowledge - Working knowledge of stats, ARC, and Lean. Change Leadership - Working knowledge of change leadership skills.

Versatility - Trained, aware of the different social styles, needs little guidance on how to adjust to other styles. Travel Requirements: 20% This position is not eligible for sponsorship for work authorization now or in the future, including conversion to H-1B visa. This position is also eligible for bonus based on performance and subject to the terms of the Company’s applicable plans.
