About Us

Organic Dyes & Pigments LLC (ORCO), a leader in colorant and specialty chemical solutions for diverse industries, is seeking a motivated and technically driven Chemist I to join our team in Union, SC. With 75 years of industry experience, ORCO is renowned for its commitment to excellence in Textile, Construction, Coatings, Agriculture, and other specialty applications. This position will focus primarily on the development, evaluation, and technical support of pigment dispersions and liquid dyes.

What You'll Do

  • Develop, evaluate, and optimize pigment dispersions and liquid dye formulations for various applications.
  • Conduct laboratory evaluations of color, strength, stability, viscosity, compatibility, and other relevant physical and chemical properties.
  • Support product development, process improvement, troubleshooting, and customer technical service activities.
  • Conduct technical evaluations and research while managing multiple projects and priorities.
  • Prepare laboratory samples and test processes, review results, and document findings in detailed technical reports.
  • Perform quality control evaluations using established procedures and specifications.
  • Assist with scale-up, manufacturing process improvements, and troubleshooting of products and processes.
  • Maintain accurate laboratory records, experimental data, and project documentation.
  • Maintain a clean and safe laboratory environment and ensure adherence to company and regulatory safety protocols.
  • Collaborate with chemists, technicians, manufacturing, technical service, and other cross-functional teams in a learning-driven, professional setting.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Polymer Science, Textile Science, or a related field.
  • 1-2 years of practical laboratory or industrial experience preferred.
  • Experience with pigment dispersions, liquid dyes, dyestuffs, or auxiliaries’ chemical formulations preferred.
  • Experience with dyes, auxiliaries, and general chemical processes used in the textile industry is highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with formulation development, laboratory testing, and basic analytical techniques.
  • Strong problem-solving, record-keeping, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in English required.
