Job Summary
The Project Engineer will lead and manage technical projects across multiple disciplines from project inception through production readiness. This position provides technical leadership and project management for new product projects and serves as a key point of contact for customers, suppliers, and internal teams.
The Project Engineer will have overall responsibility for the schedule, budget, technical execution, and financial performance of assigned projects. The ideal candidate is a self-directed professional who can make sound independent decisions, manage multiple priorities, and drive projects to successful completion with minimal supervision.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage technical and new product projects from inception through production readiness.
- Provide technical leadership and project management across engineering, manufacturing, tooling, suppliers, customers, and other functional teams.
- Communicate project progress, milestones, risks, issues, and corrective actions to project stakeholders.
- Manage overall project schedules, budgets, scope, and financial performance.
- Develop, maintain, and publish project timelines using DELMIAWorks/IQMS and other available project-management resources.
- Develop project budgets and maintain responsibility for the financial performance of assigned projects.
- Prepare cost estimates and customer quotations for tooling and support equipment.
- Participate in the quoting and project-development process.
- Review customer designs to identify manufacturing issues, tooling concerns, poor steel conditions, cost-reduction opportunities, and potential quality improvements.
- Act as the primary technical and project contact for customers.
- Coordinate with suppliers and internal departments to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and according to customer expectations.
- Schedule and lead project review meetings.
- Provide oversight of project activities and ensure milestones are achieved.
- Track and manage project scope changes and ensure schedule and financial impacts are properly documented and resolved.
- Coordinate activities with engineering, manufacturing, tooling, quality, purchasing, and other departments.
- Negotiate practical solutions when conflicting priorities or project challenges arise.
- Identify and escalate project issues, risks, and delays when appropriate.
- Work collaboratively with fellow employees to achieve departmental and company objectives.
- Approach challenges with a focus on permanent, robust solutions and continuous improvement.
- Manage time, workload, and project priorities with minimal supervision.
- Follow all applicable regulatory requirements and company procedures with a strong focus on safety and quality.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Plastics Engineering, Polymer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline; equivalent professional experience may be considered.
- Demonstrable project management and communication skills.
- Solid knowledge of injection molding processes and operations.
- Solid knowledge of injection mold tooling design and construction.
- Good working knowledge of engineering and commodity resins.
- Good working knowledge of drafting, tolerancing, and GD&T.
- Intermediate 3D CAD skills with the ability to operate CAD systems for translating, viewing, and modifying customer design files.
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, and SharePoint.
- Ability to communicate effectively with customers, suppliers, and internal stakeholders.
- Ability to make independent decisions and manage projects with minimal supervision.
Preferred Qualifications
- Project Management certification.
- Knowledge of formal project management methodologies and project management software.
- Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification.
- Professional-level SolidWorks 3D CAD experience.
- Mold-making background.
- Scientific molding experience.
- Experience with mold-filling analysis.
- Product design experience.
