Role details

Family-owned manufacturer is seeking Alkyd Coating Chemist to join their team. If you have 10+ years in coating formulation, this could be a great role for you! This role has high visibility and offers competitive benefits.

Duties

Develop and improve existing acrylic and alkyd formulations
Develop customer-specific formulations and reformulations
Support development of new product lines and technologies
Troubleshoot customer coating issues
Travel to customer sites for technical support and troubleshooting, including occasional last-minute trips
Research and implement raw-material replacements
Troubleshoot production and quality issues
Manage approximately 3-4 active projects at a time
Conduct bench formulation and laboratory testing
Perform hardness and salt-water spray testing
Improve and optimize existing product formulations
Provide technical assistance to customers and internal teams
Work closely with the Technical Director, Senior Chemist, and QC Director
Maintain technical documentation and ERP-related information
Contribute to best practices and continuous improvement

Technical Qualifications

Ideally 10+ years of acrylic and/or alkyd coatings experience
