The Role

We're seeking an experienced Materials Engineer to own the full lifecycle of material development and optimization projects. You'll create project plans, execute independently with minimal oversight, and drive results from concept through production. This is a leadership-level position for someone who can operate autonomously and deliver impact.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own full project execution—from conception and planning through completion—with minimal supervision
  • Create and execute material development strategies to meet performance, quality, and cost targets
  • Conduct independent material testing, failure analysis, and optimization work
  • Lead cross-functional collaboration to design, test, and validate new materials
  • Make decisions and solve problems independently; escalate only when necessary
  • Monitor industry trends and maintain compliance with standards
  • Document findings and present technical results to leadership and stakeholders

What We're Looking For

  • Bachelor's degree in Materials Science or Engineering
  • 3+ years of materials engineering experience (composites and/or paper manufacturing)
  • Proven track record of independently owning and delivering complex projects
  • Strong analytical skills with materials testing and failure analysis expertise
  • Familiarity with lamination, molding, and papermaking processes preferred
  • Proficiency in CAD and engineering tools
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills
  • Self-directed; thrives with autonomy and minimal oversight
