Position Summary

The Manufacturing Engineer – Vacuum Furnace Products supports the design and manufacturing of carbon/carbon fixtures and components, graphite furnace components, and carbon rigidboard insulation products. The role focuses on fixture design and load analysis, CNC machining, assembly, and manufacturing process development for graphite, carbon/carbon, and rigidboard products. You'll work closely with operations, quality, and sales to develop practical, manufacturable solutions, improve processes, reduce costs, and support reliable production.

Key Responsibilities

• Work directly with the sales team and customers operating industrial furnaces to design carbon/carbon fixtures, tooling, and furnace components for specific applications and loading requirements.
• Develop fixture concepts, perform load analysis, and create component and assembly drawings in SolidWorks.
• Develop, program, and optimize CNC machining operations using SolidWorks CAM, G-code, and other applicable machine programming languages and controls.
• Develop, document, and optimize manufacturing processes for machining and assembling graphite, carbon/carbon, and carbon rigidboard products.
• Support CNC machining, fabrication, assembly, and production troubleshooting.
• Identify and implement process improvements to increase throughput, improve yield, reduce waste, and lower manufacturing costs.
• Manage small capital and process-improvement projects from concept through installation and commissioning.
• Develop and maintain manufacturing documentation, including production travelers, standard work, and drawings.
• Work with suppliers to specify and procure equipment, materials, tooling, and outside services.
• Collect and analyze manufacturing data to support continuous improvement, root-cause investigations, and corrective actions.
• Ensure processes and documentation comply with company, customer, safety, and quality requirements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Composites Engineering, or related technical field.
• 5+ years of relevant manufacturing engineering experience.
• Strong proficiency in SolidWorks CAD/CAM and CNC programming, including G-code and machine tool controls.
• Experience with CNC machining, tooling, fixturing, and precision manufacturing.
• Working knowledge of mechanical design, tolerancing, load analysis, and design for manufacturability.
• Experience with graphite, carbon/carbon composites, carbon fiber rigidboard, ceramics, or other high-temperature materials is preferred.
• Strong understanding of manufacturing process control, root-cause analysis, and statistical problem-solving methods.
• Familiarity with ISO 9001:2015 quality systems; AS9100 and DoD/NASA manufacturing requirements are a plus.
• Strong technical communication skills and the ability to work effectively with customers, suppliers, and cross-functional teams.
