What to Expect

Tesla is seeking a motivated NVH Engineer with a strong understanding of sound package design to support our vehicle development efforts. The ideal candidate will play a key role in maintaining high NVH performance standards for sound packages, including insulators, absorbers, and other related materials. You will apply your expertise from high-level system layouts to detailed design considerations, driving improvements in NVH performance through creativity and analytical problem-solving.

What You'll Do

  • Design and develop prototype parts to evaluate NVH impacts
  • Optimize sound package designs to meet performance targets
  • Innovate next-generation lightweight sound packages using advanced materials, including metamaterials
  • Develop comprehensive test guidelines based on specifications
  • Collaborate with various business stakeholders to identify challenges and translate them into actionable data projects

What You'll Bring

  • Ability to apply analytical skills and creativity to solve complex NVH challenges
  • Strong engineering fundamentals, with the capability to perform hand calculations for rapid decision-making and validation of simulation/test results
  • Proficient in evaluating designs at a system level and developing effective metrics for decision-making
  • Degree in Mechanical, Material, Acoustic, Aero Engineering, or equivalent experience
  • Familiarity with NVH material testing standards
  • Experience in metamaterial development
  • Proficient in testing methodologies, including FRF, sound intensity, absorption, TL, modal analysis, transfer path analysis (TPA), and panel contribution analysis
  • Experience with CAE simulation tools (e.g., Actran FEM, VSEA, Optistruct, Alphacell)
  • Familiarity with NVH test equipment such as impact hammer, shaker, PU probe, acoustic camera, impedance tubes, anechoic chambers, alpha cabin, ELWIS, accelerometers, and microphones
  • Knowledge of Siemens Testlab software for data acquisition and post-processing

Expected Compensation

$112,000 - $228,000/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits

Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
