Role details
Position Overview
The Manufacturing Engineer will support engineering, production, quality, and operations initiatives within a wire and cable manufacturing environment. This role requires hands-on experience with wire and cable products, manufacturing processes, bills of material, routings, work instructions, and ERP-driven production workflows.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain manufacturing processes for wire and cable products, including extrusion, cabling, twisting, shielding, jacketing, striping, printing, testing, and packaging operations.
- Create and maintain bills of material, routings, labor standards, work centers, tooling requirements, setup instructions, and manufacturing documentation.
- Partner with production, scheduling, purchasing, quality, and customer service to resolve manufacturing issues, support on-time delivery, and improve order flow through the plant.
- Review customer specifications, drawings, and product requirements to support accurate production planning, manufacturability, costing, and compliance with applicable standards.
- Support new product development, product changes, engineering change orders.
- Work with quality personnel to investigate nonconformances, customer complaints, and process failures using root-cause analysis and corrective-action methods.
- Ensure engineering and manufacturing records are accurate, controlled, and aligned with company procedures, customer requirements, and safety expectations.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent relevant experience.
- Experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably within wire and cable, electrical products, plastics, extrusion, or related industrial manufacturing.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing documentation, process flow, labor standards, material requirements, and production troubleshooting.
Preferred Experience • Experience in wire and cable product design, production engineering, UL/CSA/ETL requirements, low-voltage cable, specialty cable, or custom cable manufacturing. • Knowledge of extrusion parameters, compound usage, conductor sizing, shielding methods, cable construction, testing requirements, and packaging standards. • Experience supporting ERP implementation, data cleanup, item master maintenance, barcode/shop-floor data collection, or manufacturing system upgrades.
