Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, document, validate, and optimize injection molding processes for new and existing products.
  • Improve cycle times, reduce scrap, increase efficiency, and enhance process consistency while maintaining quality standards.
  • Troubleshoot molding defects, downtime, and production issues using a root-cause approach.
  • Support tooling development, material evaluations, resin trials, and process validation activities.
  • Collaborate with production, maintenance, quality, tooling, suppliers, and customers to ensure successful outcomes.
  • Assist with quoting tooling and parts while providing technical support during customer discussions.
  • Evaluate molding machines, automation systems, robotics, and auxiliary equipment for performance and improvement opportunities.
  • Provide technical training and mentorship to technicians, setup personnel, supervisors, and operators.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in plastic injection molding process development and troubleshooting.
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Plastics Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Experience with scientific molding, DOE, process validation, and capability studies.
  • Strong understanding of thermoplastic materials, resin behavior, tooling interaction, and molding parameters.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
