We desire a high-energy, entry level technical professional to join our Materials and Engineering Development Labs team.

The successful candidate will have excellent laboratory skills, demonstrated communication and presentation skills, be eager to expand their technical breadth and knowledge, have a demonstrated track record of both individual achievement and collaborative success. You will operate across multiple laboratories and production environments, balancing specific technical assignments with flexibility to support various teams where needed. The Engineering, Science and Analysis (ESA) Strategic Capabilities Unit comprises the technical talent and organizational leadership that enables the successful delivery of high-impact discriminating technologies for our customers’ missions.

What You’ll Do: Chemical Laboratory - perform, support, analyze, document, a variety of activities, including, but not limited to, sampling hardware, sample prep, analysis, interpretation of results, and reporting for AA, FTIR, GCMS, titrations, method development; onboard new equipment/instrumentation, reducing to practice and validating process; maintain/repair equipment Physical Properties Laboratory - perform, support, analyze, method/process development, document, a variety of activities including, but not limited to, sampling, sample prep, cross sectioning, metallurgical analysis, microscopic examination, reporting for SEM-EDS, XRF, TGA, DSC, TMA, DMA, LFA, HFM, mechanical properties; onboard new equipment/instrumentation, reducing to practice and validating process; maintain/repair equipment Additive Manufacturing Laboratory - support, perform, develop, document processes and production of tooling and deliverable hardware, including polymeric, resin, metal, and ceramic materials Process Development Laboratory - perform, support, and document process in vacuum, temperature/humidity, and autoclave environments for development and production support of aerospace products; assisting in support of production control, process improvement, onboarding new equipment Electrical Process Laboratory – support, analyze, perform electrical tests to isolate defects in electrical components, evaluate materials and items used in Electrostatic Protection Areas; support and assist in evaluating and setting up Electrical Protection Areas; utilize various tools common for the evaluation of electrical components and hand tools common to the work environment Documentation – assist with formal documentation of process, procedures, material specifications, analytical results, and other needs within the Materials and Process Engineering organization; engage in regular reading and technical writing to review, update, and maintain legacy documents and operational processes.

Documentation may be in the form of formal written or presentation format. Investigation Support – test, analyze, assist in evaluation of new materials for use in aerospace applications, support failure analysis (physical, chemical, and electrical) utilizing various technologies, offer data-based root cause determination, and provide effective resolution to such investigations Computer Skills – program test equipment and data acquisition in various formats, develop and maintain Microsoft based databases with frequent development of macros Daily work effort in support of existing test procedures and development of new test protocols. Maintain a regular and predictable work schedule.

Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the department, the Strategic Business Units, Strategic Capabilities Units and the Company. Interact appropriately with others in order to maintain a positive and productive work environment. Perform other duties as necessary. On-Site Work Environment: This position requires regular in-person engagement by working on-site five days each normally scheduled week in the primary work location. Travel and local commute between company campuses and other possible non-company locations may be required. Working Conditions: Work is performed in an office, laboratory, production floor, or cleanroom, outdoors or remote research environment.

May occasionally work in production work centers where use of protective equipment and gear is required. May access other facilities in various weather conditions.
