FLSA Status: Exempt
Pay Range: $85K - $110K annual
SUMMARY
The Project Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, and improving manufacturing processes to increase efficiency, reduce waste, ensure product quality, and maintain a safe work environment. This role works closely with production, quality, maintenance, and design teams to support continuous improvement and new product introductions.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Develops detailed project plans by reviewing objectives of Program Manager for specific part programs
- Develop, evaluate, and improve manufacturing methods, tooling, and equipment.
- Support new product introductions (NPI) by developing process documentation, work instructions, and assembly methods.
- Identify and implement process improvements using Lean, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement methodologies.
- Troubleshoot manufacturing issues and implement corrective actions to minimize downtime.
- Confirms product performance by designing and conducting tests
- Develop and maintain process documentation, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and process control plans.
- Maintains documentation of test results, processing data, and other pertinent information
- Assists advanced research and development with new methods or materials, as requested
- Maintains product and company reputation by complying with federal and state regulations
OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES
- May lead small team of Engineering Technicians, if required
- May perform other engineering duties related to part or process development as assigned
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This position is not expected to have any supervisory authority.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE and REQUIREMENTS
- BS Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Plastics Engineering, or equivalent combination of education
- Must have 5+ years of experience in related industries
- SolidWorks experience, or equivalent 3D modeling software
- Experience with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement tools.
- Minitab experience, or equivalent statistical analysis software
- Knowledge of GD&T, process validation, and root cause analysis.
- Demonstrated teamwork skills
- Understanding of manufacturing methods and procedures
- Working knowledge of production and safety procedures used in a manufacturing environment
- Basic understanding of metal injection molding [MIM], plastic injection molding, and die-casting processes
- Exceptional oral and written communication skills
- Effective skill in establishing and maintaining working relationships with a wide range of individuals from varying economic, social, and educational backgrounds in a manufacturing environment
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience in mold design, but not required
- Skill in developing secondary process and equipment desired, but not required
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
This position must be willing and able to perform work which requires sitting or standing for long periods of time.

Salary: $85,000.00 - $110,000.00 per year
