Description
The primary responsibility of this position will be to support manufacturing, maintenance, and quality, and monitor/maintain processes. This person will create a system of processes and procedures for the staff to follow in order to keep extrusion lines, mixing equipment, and final process equipment running continuously and efficiently and producing products that meet quality standards. This person will design, plan and implement improvements in all aspects of the production processes to continually improve efficiency. Lean manufacturing practices, 5S training, six sigma training experience required and important in your daily functions.
Requirements
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Use Statistical Process Control in the continuous improvement effort
- Assist in troubleshooting and solve problems of large systems and processes
- Monitor manufacturing variances so that problem solving and improvement opportunities are identified
- Provide timely resolution of product, process and equipment problems in the form of creative short- and long-term solutions
- Assist in development, testing and improving manufacturing processes for new and existing products that optimize operation, reduce product variability, and increase yields
- Develop machine specifications, identify, and evaluate suppliers, then procure, install and de-bug equipment from outside suppliers for general manufacturing and secondary processes
- Comply with Modern Mill safety policies and procedures
- Regular attendance, timeliness, and scheduling flexibility
Qualifications
- Excellent mechanical aptitude

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong initiative, self-directed and takes action on opportunities
- Problem-solving ability, good documentation skills, and preferred manufacturing practices
- Demonstrated knowledge of CAD, Solidworks
Education And/or Experience
- Engineering Degree. Mechanical Engineering degree preferred
- Plastics or Extrusion Experience a plus
- Drafting (CAD, SolidWorks, Sketchup)
- 3 years of lean, Lean Six Sigma, Kaizen, and Kanban preferred
Working Conditions
- Prolong standing or in stationary position
- Be exposed to sounds or noise levels that may be uncomfortable
- Wear all required personal protective equipment
- Lift/move/transport items up to 50 pounds
- Ability to move or traverse about the facilities
- Must be able to ascend/descend stairs or ladders
- Ability to work around dust, chemicals, and other substances, and in various environmental conditions
