Manufacturing Engineer

JOB SUMMARY

Hands-on position that supports the development, evaluation, troubleshooting, and improvement of manufacturing methods. Assists engineering and production personnel with product design reviews, materials and parts, fabrication processes, tooling, production equipment capabilities, assembly methods, lean tools, and quality control standards.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Support lean improvement activities and meetings to help reduce waste and improve manufacturing processes using lean tools such as Kaizen, value stream mapping, cell design, and related continuous improvement methods.

2. Assist with collecting, organizing, and reporting production data needed to support profit and loss analysis for production runs.

3. Assist engineering and production staff with reviewing workflow, workspace layout, equipment placement, and space requirements to support safe and efficient manufacturing operations.

4. Write work instructions and standard operating procedures as required.

5. Collect, review, and summarize manufacturing process data to help engineering evaluate methods, equipment needs, and quality requirements.

6. Estimate production times, staffing requirements and related costs to provide information for management decisions.

7. Confer with management, engineering and other staff regarding manufacturing capabilities, production schedules, and other considerations to facilitate production processes.

8. Confer with vendors to determine product specifications and arrange for purchase of equipment, materials, or parts.

9. Able to program machine controllers at a high level with the ability to train production staff.

10. Assist with scrap reduction projects and process improvement.

11. Other duties as assigned.

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE

Good interpersonal communication skills at all levels of the organization.

Proven ability to handle all aspects of a project from conception to completion.

Experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred.

Experience with SolidWorks is preferred.

Proficient personal computer skills.

Experience in rubber or plastic molding is desirable.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Must be able to lift 20 –30 pounds several times a day and occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.

Must be able to stand for extended periods of time.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $65,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year
