Worth knowing
Why it is interesting. You own each program from RFQ quote through ramp, so the process you priced is the one you run.
Adjacent materials roleSet up, develop and optimize injection molding processes using scientific molding and DOE; root-cause molding defects (short shots, flash, warp, sink, splay); engineered resins

Role details
Sr. Manufacturing Process Engineer – Injection Molding
At Dekko, our process engineers do not just support production. They own the program. You'll quote new molding projects, then carry them through tooling, process development, validation, and launch, so the process you priced is the process we run. You'll use AI as an everyday tool to move faster and make better decisions, and you will be at the table from the first RFQ through ramp, not handed a process someone else created.
What You Will Do
Quote the work
- Review customer RFQs, part designs, and drawings for moldability, and flag design-for-manufacturing issues early
- Build quotes for molding programs: tooling, material, cycle time, press selection, secondary operations, and capital
- Support customer conversations with clear assumptions, risks, and timelines
Run the program from quote to launch
- Own the project plan from award through PPAP or first article: tool build, T1 samples, process development, validation, and production ramp
- Coordinate toolmakers, material suppliers, quality, maintenance, and production so milestones hold
- Make sure the launched process matches what was quoted, and close the gap when it doesn't
Develop and launch molding processes
- Set up, develop, and optimize injection molding processes using scientific molding and DOE
- Run process trials, validation studies, and capability analyses so launches are stable from day one
- Specify and qualify tooling, auxiliary equipment, and fixtures, including hot runners, temperature control, and material handling
- Apply PLC concepts such as sequencing, interlocks, and I/O when working with press and cell controls, without writing PLC code
Keep production stable
- Build the documentation that keeps production consistent: work instructions, process flows, PFMEAs, and control plans
- Find root causes of molding defects such as short shots, flash, warp, sink, and splay, and own the preventive actions
- Use SPC and continuous improvement methods to improve cycle time, scrap, quality, and throughput
- Train operators and technicians on new processes and equipment
Work with AI
- Use AI tools to speed up quoting, analyze process and quality data, draft and review documentation, and troubleshoot defects
- Check AI output against your engineering judgment, and help the team build good habits with these tools
What you bring
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, engineering technology, plastics, manufacturing, or a related field, or equivalent hands-on experience
- 5+ years in injection molding process engineering, process development, or a technical molding role
- Hands-on experience setting up, troubleshooting, and optimizing molding processes and equipment
- Experience quoting molding projects, or strong exposure to cost, cycle time, and tooling estimates
- Experience managing projects from quote through launch, including tool builds, samples, and validation
- Working knowledge of scientific molding, DOE, SPC, and lean and continuous improvement
- Understanding of PLC concepts and how press and cell controls behave (programming experience not required)
- Comfort using AI tools in daily engineering work, and curiosity to keep learning them
- Ability to read technical drawings and work in CAD
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to communicate with customers, engineers, and production teams
Nice to have (not required, and we will help you build these)
- Scientific molding certification (such as RJG or Routsis) or Lean or Six Sigma certification
- Mold flow simulation or mold design review experience
- Background in automotive, aerospace, electronics, medical, or other specialty molding
- Experience with ISO, AS9100, or IATF environments
- Experience with insert molding, over molding, or engineered resins
