JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS The School of Engineering at Penn State Behrend is seeking applicants for part-time (temporary) job of researcher. Job duties to include: Polymer Co-Extrusion Development: Develop a polymer co-extrusion platform, applying rheological principles and ANSYS Polyflow simulations to predict extrudate patterns resulting from complex die geometries.

Die Design and Fabrication: Support the design and fabrication of customized extrusion dies, including the application of metal additive manufacturing, and experimentally validate their performance through extrusion trials. Material Characterization: Conduct dimensional, morphological, structural, and other relevant analyses of co-extruded materials to evaluate experimental results against simulation predictions. Research Collaboration and Reporting: Participate in project meetings, document research progress, analyze experimental and simulation results, and regularly present technical findings and recommendations to the research team.

Preferred Qualifications

Ph.D. in Polymer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, or a closely related field. Experience in metal additive manufacturing and polymer processing, particularly extrusion and co-extrusion. Familiarity with ANSYS Polyflow and other relevant simulation software. Strong experimental, analytical, and technical communication skills. BACKGROUND CHECKS/CLEARANCES Employment with the University will require successful completion of background check(s) in accordance with University policies.
