The group you’ll be a part of

---------------------------------

You’ll be joining the WETS Product Group’s Process Critical Hardware team. The Process Critical team is responsible for hardware in the closest proximity to the wafer and having the greatest impact on plating performance. Our team partners closely with process engineering, supply chain partners, and customer account teams to deliver best-in-class hardware solutions for our customers. The team is seeking someone with a passion for owning product performance and reliability throughout its lifecycle while keeping work fun and collaborative

The impact you’ll make

--------------------------

As a Product Engineer 3 in the WETS Product Group, you will have a hybrid role that combines elements of mechanical engineering, material science, reliability engineering, and supplier quality. This position focuses on product qualification, reliability, and continuous improvement of existing hardware rather than the development of new product capabilities. You will develop and maintain deep product knowledge for the Sabre and Sabre 3D plating cell and clamshell to ensure our products consistently meet our customer’s performance and reliability requirements. You will develop new equipment and standardize methods for evaluating and qualifying parts.

You will also have exposure to critical customer engagements, where you will lead root cause investigations for product issues, support customer escalations, and partner with cross-functional teams to implement effective corrective actions.

What you’ll do

------------------

  • Lead qualification of new hardware, materials, suppliers, and manufacturing processes.
  • Support the full product lifecycle including development and prototyping, with a heavy influence on deployment and product release, and long-term field support.
  • Investigate product failures using structured root cause methodologies and statistical analysis to drive PS&DM (problem-solving & decision-making).
  • Create and maintain 3D CAD models, detailed drawings, and engineering documentation in accordance with Lam standards.
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional teams, especially Supply Chain, Product Management, Process Engineering, and Manufacturing Engineering to influence outcomes and ensure successful customer implementations.
  • Support NPI phase‑gate activities (Pre‑DR, DDR, CDR) by delivering assigned mechanical design milestones on schedule.
  • Create new test equipment and standardized methods to understand system performance.
  • Build strong interpersonal relationships with internal and external Supply Chain partners.
  • Author clear and concise customer-facing documentation such as qualification and FA (failure analysis) reports.

Who we’re looking for

-------------------------

  • Bachelor’s degree in Material Science, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Optics, Physics, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related field with 5 years of experience; or 3 years and a Master’s degree; or a PhD without experience.
  • Strong mechanical engineering, material science, and manufacturing fundamentals.
  • Exceptional analytical and experimental design skills.
  • Completes tasks independently and recognizes when direction is needed.
  • Effective problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Clear and concise communication and presentation skills.
  • Experience coordinating and communicating with cross-functional teams.

Preferred qualifications

----------------------------

  • Proficient in 3D CAD tools, preferably Creo and/or NX.
  • Knowledge of electroplating or the semiconductor industry at large is a plus.
  • Knowledge of metal machining, plastics machining, elastomeric seals, and coating commodities.
  • Experience collaborating with suppliers to test ideas, gather manufacturability feedback, and maintain focus on timely execution of deliverables.
  • Understanding of statistics and variability to ensure long-term part reliability.
