The Bay City Michigan site (BIO) is seeking a Laboratory Technician to primarily support operations within the Quality Lab. This role provides hands-on support for compounding, compression molding and accredited testing activities that serve our customers.

**A Day in the Life**

  • Perform finished products and in-process material testing.
  • Perform raw material certification reviews, testing and approvals.
  • Accurately enter data.
  • Support product disposition and quarantine activities.
  • Maintain Laboratory housekeeping organization and cleanliness, including work stations, equipment & lab office areas.
  • Prepare, mold and test product samples in accordance with established procedures.
  • Operate test equipment, including Instron, viscometers, titrators, etc.
  • Prepare, document and issue laboratory test reports/results and communicate effectively to stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with all QA personnel, production, PAD and site leadership.
  • Provide support to production as needed, including performing duties of a production operator.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

**You Bring This Value**

  • A minimum of two years’ experience in a technical lab role preferred; Experience with compounding operations and materials preferred.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of laboratory techniques, with strong mathematical and mechanical aptitude.
  • Experience in a scientific or technical environment preferred.
  • Basic understanding of materials and physical properties.
  • Proficiency with computer applications, including Excel, Word..
  • Strong communication (written and verbal) skills.
  • Ability to operate laboratory equipment, including compression presses and testing instruments.
  • Proficiency in the use of precision measuring tools (e.g., micrometers, calipers, scales, Instron equipment).
  • Ability to multitask effectively, demonstrate initiative, and maintain high personal performance standards.
  • Comfortable working in a hands-on, fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Capable of learning and applying test procedures and methods with accuracy.
  • Ability to operate, maintain, and validate test equipment with minimal supervision.
  • Willingness and flexibility to work any shift, including weekends, as required.
  • Strong work ethic with reliable attendance and solid employment history.
  • Ability to safely work with fiberglass and carbon fiber materials. Ability to work independently with limited supervision and direction.
  • Physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds.

Education

  • Minimum of High School diploma or GED
  • Associates Degree or equivalent education in related field is desired or equivalent of 2 years of experience in lieu of a degree (not required for entry level) is preferred.
