We are looking for

The Production Engineer is responsible for providing technical leadership and support to ensure that currently defined processes meet or exceed targets in terms of safety, quality, productivity and cost. Lead incremental improvements initiatives to optimize existing processes.

This position reports to the Production Manager. This position works with all members of the work cell, other functional groups within the organization, customers and suppliers.

We can count on you to

  • Engage with operators on safety related issues
  • Assist with safe work permitting for TAR or special situational work. All production engineers should become special authorized signers.
  • Provide technical knowledge in PHA, MHA, and MOC process. Will also lead PSSRs. Will also work to close out old ATS actions around safety related issues.
  • Review ETQ to identify non conforming materials or customer complaints
  • Review LIMs for product testing results to ensure products will meet customer specifications
  • Walk floor to identify where the plant is in terms of safety items and production items. Knows how to communicate with external parties to get support to get areas back on track.
  • Inspect finish product to ensure it will meet customer requirements
  • Provide technical support and collaborates with Quality Engineers, Process Engineers and operations team to respond to all customer issues, quality escapes and other systemic quality issues.
  • Maintain, develop and update all control documents such as process instructions, PCC, etc.
  • Maintain and manage recipe effectiveness metric, BOMs, scrap, yield, and other aspects of product configuration
  • Update product routers to ensure we will be able to produce orders in full and on time.
  • Liaise with project/process engineers to implement new capital projects in the production area.
  • Supports employees in lean and six sigma principles and methodology. Ensure that operators have the background knowledge in these principles in order that they can effectively engage with the Area Improvement Team.
  • Ensures productivity metrics such as uptime and throughput are visible on the shop floor and deviations to standard are being worked.
  • Leads continuous improvement activities through the use of lean and various engagement tools (including kaizen, workout, 6S, etc.)
  • Lead execution of incremental process improvements (e.g. waste and First-time-Right) by actively engaging horizontally, vertically with all levels
  • Take corrective action to address process deviations and identify root cause to prevent recurrence
  • Fill in as relief for Production Manager as needed.
  • Review OEE data to identify ways we can increase capacity to fill customer orders
  • Conduct trainings and documentation updates for safety and production related issues
  • Spend time following up on issues identified by operators on the floor or others with the process

You will bring:

  • This position requires a four-year B.S. degree preferably in Composite or Chemical Engineering
  • Minimum of 2 years of manufacturing experience.
  • Must have well developed communication skills to work effectively with customers, operators, suppliers and other support groups within Syensqo.
  • High motivation and self-starting abilities are a must and able to handle complex and demanding situations while maintaining sound decision making.

  • The U.S. base salary range reasonably expected to be paid for this position is $84,000 - 123,000 per year. Since actual compensation packages are based on a variety of factors unique to each candidate we may ultimately pay more or less than the posted base salary range. Total compensation for this role also includes bonus and/or other incentives.
