This hands-on engineering role is ideal for someone who enjoys solving complex processing challenges, improving safety and quality, mentoring technicians, and driving measurable improvements in scrap, uptime, tooling performance, and overall equipment effectiveness.

RESRG Automotive is seeking you to join our team as a Molding Process Engineer in our Morehead, KY facility!

What You Will Do In Your Role

  • Lead safe, reliable molding operations by reinforcing safety expectations, learning from prior incidents, and supporting prevention-focused improvements.
  • Improve molding performance through scrap reduction, cycle time optimization, downtime reduction, mold changeover improvement, and OEE initiatives.
  • Launch and validate new molds through tooling trials, process development, documentation, and feedback to improve mold design and production readiness.
  • Develop, validate, and maintain robust molding processes using scientific molding principles including decoupled molding, cavity fill studies, DOE, process windows, and capability analysis.
  • Analyze production data, scrap trends, downtime events, and quality performance metrics to identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
  • Partner with operations, quality, tooling, maintenance, and corporate engineering teams to improve manufacturability, process capability, and customer quality outcomes.
  • Create and maintain process books, setup documentation, tooling trial reports, and standardized procedures for new and existing production.
  • Train, coach, and mentor molding technicians to strengthen technical capability, troubleshooting skills, and consistent execution across shifts.
  • Coordinate tool changes and press support based on production priorities, customer needs, and operational performance goals.
  • Ensure compliance with environmental, safety, quality, PPE, and work instruction requirements while actively identifying opportunities to improve processes.

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering preferred; equivalent hands-on molding, tooling, manufacturing, or production leadership experience will also be considered.
  • Experience with injection molding, tooling trials, process development, troubleshooting, scrap reduction, or equipment/process optimization.
  • Working knowledge of scientific molding principles
  • Strong mechanical aptitude, analytical thinking, and ability to use data to identify root causes and improve process performance.
  • Clear communication skills with the ability to document processes, share technical information, and support technicians, supervisors, and cross-functional partners.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment while balancing production support, continuous improvement, and new mold launch activities.

What Will Put You Ahead

  • Master Molder 1 or 2 certification
  • Experience with hot runner systems, valve gate controls, automation interfaces, and multi-cavity production tooling.
