National Door Industries manufactures products for the garage-door and building-products industries. Our manufacturing operations include plastic extrusion, injection molding, secondary processing, and aluminum components, with a focus on producing consistent, high-quality products at a competitive cost.

We are seeking an experienced, hands-on Product & Manufacturing Engineer who can bridge the gap between customer requirements and manufacturing.

This is not a desk-only engineering position. You’ll work directly with customers, sales, production, quality, tooling suppliers, and other stakeholders to develop practical product specifications, solve manufacturing challenges, and bring new and modified products into production.

What You’ll Do

• Translate customer and market needs into clear engineering and manufacturing requirements.
• Develop and maintain product drawings, specifications, bills of material, and engineering documentation.
• Support the design and manufacture of plastic and aluminum components.
• Select materials and manufacturing processes based on performance, cost, and manufacturability.
• Work with tooling suppliers and internal teams on extrusion dies, molds, fixtures, gauges, and other tooling.
• Establish practical dimensional tolerances, inspection requirements, and methods for controlling critical product characteristics.
• Support new product introduction from customer concept through prototypes, tooling trials, first articles, validation, and production release.
• Provide hands-on engineering support to production and troubleshoot recurring products, material, tooling, quality, and process issues.
• Lead or support root-cause analysis and corrective-action activities.
• Identify opportunities to improve yield, throughput, material utilization, labor efficiency, and manufacturing cost.
• Communicate technical requirements effectively with customers, production employees, quality, sales, suppliers, and management.

What We’re Looking For

Required Qualifications

• 3+ years of relevant engineering experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Strong mechanical and manufacturing fundamentals.
• Experience reading and creating engineering drawings.
• Working knowledge of dimensional tolerancing and GD&T.
• Ability to translate product requirements into practical engineering and manufacturing specifications.
• Comfortable working directly with production personnel and participating in hands-on problem solving.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities.

A bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Plastics Engineering, Materials Engineering, or a related field is preferred. Candidates with significantly relevant manufacturing and product-engineering experience may also be considered.

Preferred Experience

We’re especially interested in candidates with experience in one or more of the following areas:

• Plastic extrusion and/or injection molding
• ASA, HIPS, PVC, ABS, polycarbonate, or similar rigid thermoplastics
• Product or manufacturing engineering
• Building products or construction-related manufacturing
• Garage doors, windows, doors, siding, trim, or related products
• Tooling and die development
• Product testing and validation
• Material selection
• New product introduction
• Production troubleshooting and continuous improvement
• CAD software such as SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or similar
• Working directly with customers on technical requirements
• Aluminum extrusion, forming, or fabrication

Who Will Be Successful in This Role

You’ll likely thrive in this position if you enjoy solving practical manufacturing problems and can move comfortably between a customer conversation, CAD drawing, production meeting, and the shop floor.

We’re looking for someone who asks why a customer needs something, can turn an ambiguous request into a measurable engineering requirement, understands that a good design must also be manufacturable, and takes ownership of problems through resolution.

Work Environment

This is an on-site manufacturing position in Haltom City, Texas. Regular presence in the manufacturing environment is required. Occasional travel may be needed for customer meetings, supplier visits, tooling development, industry events, or other business needs.

Compensation

$80,000–$115,000 annually, depending on experience and qualifications.
