About the Role

We are looking for a Process Development Engineer to join our team in Elkton, Maryland. In this role, you will lead the development, scale-up, and validation of manufacturing processes, with a focus on material expansion, compression, coating, and lamination technologies. You will collaborate across product development, manufacturing, quality, suppliers, and external partners to translate product requirements into robust, scalable process solutions. This hands-on role offers the opportunity to solve complex technical challenges and directly support the commercialization of new products.

This position will be located at our facility in Elkton, Maryland , with the possibility of a hybrid work arrangement.

Pay and Benefits

$110,000 - $ 140,000 per year

Responsibilities

Lead process development and scale-up, defining process windows and material-process relationships for robust, reproducible manufacturing

Apply Design for Manufacturing principles to align product, material, process, and manufacturingrequirements

Partner with product development engineers on prototyping, process development, andcommercialization

Serve as a key technical interface with manufacturing teams, external partners, and suppliers

Plan and execute experiments, process trials, scale-up, validation, and sample delivery

Troubleshoot material and process issues with manufacturing, quality, and supplier partners

Align technical requirements and manufacturing readiness across cross-functional teams

Analyze and document results, specifications, validation outcomes, and recommendations

Identify equipment and process capability needs with engineering partners

Assess manufacturing capacity, supplier capability, process risk, and commercialization readiness

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Chemical, Mechanical or comparable Engineering degree

A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in R&D process development, scale-up, or validation

Experience with external manufacturers, suppliers, or partners

Competence in web handling and process mapping between materials, conditions, and product performance

Understanding of design for manufacturing principles

Strong data analysis, experimental execution, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills. Effective cross-functional communication including across engineering and supply chain

Ability to translate product requirements into specifications.

Ability to work hands-on and manage priorities in a fast paced environment

Ability to travel up to 10%.

Desired Qualifications

Degree in Chemical Engineering, Polymer Engineering, Materials Science and Engineering, or a closely related field preferred

Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in R&D process development and scale-up involving compression, expansion, coating, and lamination.
