We are looking for a Manufacturing Engineer to join our team.

Summary

Provide engineering support for all manufacturing and automation areas of the Clack North facility. Manage filament wound tank manufacturing and test equipment. Develop new and maintain existing manufacturing equipment used in the facility. Identify and implement process and quality improvements.

  • Evaluate and suggest changes to products, production methods, manufacturing procedures, assembly procedures, inspection procedures and bills of materials to increase production, improve quality, improve reliability, decrease costs and ensure safer working environments.
  • Design, develop and revise manufacturing equipment as needed for production improvements.
  • Provide engineering support in the design and layout of manufacturing and support equipment.
  • Specify and source necessary equipment and components for production areas.
  • Produce and/or oversee the production of composite pressure vessel tanks for R&D purposes.
  • Create and maintain manufacturing and inspection procedures.
  • Write technical procedures, instructions, reports and other documents.
  • Establish and monitor procedures for set up and clean up including proper disposal of waste.
  • Assist in establishing product acceptability requirements as well as testing protocols.
  • Effectively communicate with management, sales, production staff, purchasing, engineering, accounting, suppliers and customers on engineering, production and product issues.
  • Assist with diagnosing and performing needed maintenance on fixtures, robots and secondary finishing stations. Ex: install new bearings, rails, shafts, lubricate equipment, etc.
  • Develop preventative maintenance schedule for all equipment.
  • Set up new equipment and trains others in the operations and maintenance.
  • Maintain records and documents on equipment and systems.
  • Programming of robots (both six-axis and Cartesian coordinate system)
  • Troubleshoot manufacturing equipment (fixtures, winders, testing equipment, welders, etc.)
  • Evaluate products and/or equipment for failures and resolve.
  • Train production staff on robotics for adjustments and troubleshooting.
  • Follow and comply with all quality, safety and work rules and regulations including housekeeping standards and wearing of appropriate personal protection equipment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Three or more years of related work experience supporting manufacturing and automation.
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, technical degree in Industrial engineering, automated manufacturing systems, or equivalent work experience required.
  • Ability to read, analyze, interpret mechanical/electrical drawings, technical procedures, etc.
  • Experience with using pneumatics and performing basic electrical wiring.
  • Ability to effectively design using SolidWorks. Previous PDM experience preferred.
  • Able to proficiently use computers competently: Windows, MS Office, ERP.
  • Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude.
  • Working knowledge of PLC software with ability to program and troubleshoot.
  • Ability to work on multiple projects independently and without supervision. Self-starter.
  • Ability to write technical procedures, instructions, reports and other documents.
  • Excellent project management, communication and organizational skills.
  • Able to work effectively with people and develop partnerships with internal team members.
  • Ability to wear appropriate personal protective equipment and follow all safety regulations.
  • Utilizes Lock Out/Tag Out when necessary.
  • Able to work with hand tools and machinery.
  • Extended standing and sitting. Able to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally, 25 pounds frequently.
