SUMMARY

The Project Engineer is responsible for driving a cross-functional team and delivering projects within budget and schedule constraints. This role provides technical support throughout the engineering process and contributes directly to project completion. The Project Engineer manages projects from the development stage through part approval, with opportunities to grow into program management. The role includes regular customer communication (internal and external), with a hands-on approach that supports personalization and customization for each customer's needs.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Analyzes project requirements and performs technical calculations.
  • Removes barriers hindering progress through strategic problem-solving.
  • Leads project monitoring to keep work on budget and schedule.
  • Maintains project status and updates the customer regularly.
  • Calls and leads engineering meetings to advance project progress.
  • Serves as the primary contact for toolmakers and outside service companies, retrieving and following up on status updates.
  • Manages projects through tooling development and into the molding stage.
  • Partners with the Engineering Manager to launch new projects.
  • Mentors and help develop project engineers.
  • Serves as a primary point of contact for key customers, providing hands-on support from the development stage and into production.
  • Supports sustaining engineering needs as molding issues arise.
  • Drives the APQP process via IQMS and holds responsible parties accountable.
  • Generates creative solutions: translates concepts and information into images; uses feedback to improve designs; applies design principles to resolve issues; demonstrates attention to detail.
  • Able to deal with frequent changes, delays, or unexpected events.
  • Collects and researches data to create alternate pathways to project closure.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's Degree (BA) from four-year college or university with an Engineering background, or an equivalent of real world experience within the industry
  • 10+ years of related Injection Molding experience
  • Project manager experience within injection molding or mold building.
  • Mold making/mold building experience (preferred).
  • Mold design a plus.
  • DFM creation through PPT presentations
  • ERP usage required for project documentation
  • CAD background - SolidWorks preferred.
  • Moldflow knowledge / familiarity - Autodesk ideal.
  • ISO 9001/13485 - 3+ years of experience.
  • APQP - managing a cross functional team at a high level to meet business needs.
  • IQ/OQ/PQ - a minimum of 3+ years' experience in the part validation process.
  • PPAP/FAI - strong understanding of inspection methods, documentation, data analysis, and process definition.
  • FMEA - experience with risk management, including identification, assessment, and mitigation.
