Position Summary

Join our dynamic team as a Thermoforming Process Engineer, where you'll play a crucial role in designing a complete thermoforming manufacturing cell, acquiring equipment, establishing standards, and launching new products. Use your engineering skills to help vertically integrate thermoforming into Design Imaging’s rapidly growing manufacturing business. Key Responsibilities

  • Establish a thermoforming cell by building processes around our new thermoformer, including trimming operations, rigidizing, finishing, and packaging.
  • Source equipment or build machines from the ground up to complete the new manufacturing cell to vertically integrate parts and launch several new product lines.
  • Establish Standard Operating Procedures and documentation to help train a new operations department, including process KPI’s related to safety, quality, delivery, and cost.
  • Work with the R&D team to launch several new product lines by prototyping, testing, establishing machine settings and building jigs and fixtures.
  • Utilize Root Cause Analysis to implement corrective actions, coordinate and drive continuous improvement activities, and act as a change agent for Lean Projects/Kaizen Events.
  • Train, coach, and support production employees in continuous improvement, kaizen, and 5S projects.
  • Be an agile problem solver, thinking outside-the-box to find and fix multi-disciplinary issues across our rapidly growing business.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing, Mechanical, Industrial Engineering, or a related field with 2+ years of manufacturing experience.
  • Experience in thermoforming/rigidizing highly preferred.
  • Proven experience in project management and creative problem-solving aptitude.
  • Ability to lead and implement continuous improvement initiatives, and proficiency in creating Quality Control Plans, SOPs, ECNs, and other production documentation.
  • Strong understanding of lean manufacturing principles, ability to work independently and proactively with both management and production teams, and a data-driven approach to making improvements.
  • Experience with CAD/CAM software (Fusion 360 preferred) and fabrication skills such as working with hand tools, wood working equipment, welding, CNC machines, and knowledge of PLC, coding, and electrical work beneficial.
