Position Summary
The Production Engineer I supports safe, efficient, and reliable manufacturing operations by monitoring production performance, troubleshooting equipment and process issues, and implementing continuous improvement initiatives. This position works closely with Production, Quality, Equipment, and other cross-functional teams to improve yield, Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE), productivity, quality, and process stability while supporting production and shipment requirements.
Essential Responsibilities
- Support daily production operations to ensure alignment with production and shipment plans.
- Partner with engineers, technicians, operators, and other production personnel to troubleshoot equipment and process issues and improve production performance.
- Monitor and analyze production performance indicators, including yield, OEE, output, quality, and other operational metrics.
- Identify production abnormalities, determine root causes, and support implementation of corrective and preventive actions.
- Review non-conformance reports (NCRs), analyze quality issues, and coordinate corrective actions with appropriate teams.
- Develop, revise, and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), work instructions, and other production documentation.
- Train production team members on new or revised processes, procedures, and operational requirements.
- Monitor production progress against established plans and communicate risks, delays, abnormalities, or other issues to appropriate stakeholders.
- Support inventory management activities, including classification and tracking of conforming, non-conforming, and pending inventory.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on productivity, quality, cost, yield, process stability, and operational efficiency.
- Participate in internal, customer, and other applicable audits and support corrective actions resulting from audit findings.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Production, Quality, Equipment, Maintenance, Safety, and other departments to resolve manufacturing issues.
- Ensure compliance with applicable company policies and health, safety, environmental, and fire prevention requirements.
- Maintain accurate production records, reports, analyses, and other required documentation.
- Maintain cleanliness at the worksite in accordance with 5S3R Standards:
- Sort, Set in Order, Shine, Standardize, Sustain
- Right Location, Right Quantity, Right Container
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
- 0–3 years of manufacturing, production engineering, process engineering, or related experience.
- Ability to analyze manufacturing problems and support development and implementation of corrective actions.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook.
- Ability to work effectively in a manufacturing environment and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in high-volume manufacturing, automotive, battery, or other advanced manufacturing environments.
- Experience supporting manufacturing equipment, production processes, or process optimization.
- Knowledge of lithium-ion battery manufacturing processes.
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement methodologies.
- Experience with root cause analysis, corrective action, and problem-solving methodologies.
- Experience with production performance metrics such as yield, OEE, cycle time, scrap, and throughput.
- Experience developing SOPs, work instructions, or other manufacturing documentation.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements
- Work is performed in both office and manufacturing production environments.
- Regular presence on the manufacturing floor is required to support production operations, troubleshooting, process improvements, and other operational activities.
- Must comply with all required personal protective equipment (PPE), safety, environmental, and facility requirements while working in production areas.
- May be required to stand or walk for extended periods while supporting manufacturing operations.
- May occasionally be required to work outside standard business hours to support production issues, operational needs, or project activities.
