Job Title Postdoctoral Research Associate Agency Texas A&M University Department Chemistry Proposed Minimum Salary Commensurate Job Location College Station, Texas Job Type Staff Job Description Glimpse of the Job The Postdoctoral Research Associate will perform independent research activities requiring an advanced level of knowledge in a field of science or learning. This work is predominantly intellectual and varied in character, and require consistent use of discretion and judgment. Additional activities center on supervising junior researchers in laboratory research, and aiding in the preparation of manuscripts and proposals for funding agencies and operation of research equipment.

Work will center on the development of synthetic organic routes for the preparation of conjugated small molecules and oligomers, as well as surface modification and materials characterization. Opportunities to Contribute Design, plan, conduct and coordinate experiments in support of various research projects. Evaluate, select, and apply standard techniques of routine research. Keep detailed records of data. Use computers and laboratory or technical equipment to perform data analysis, statistical analysis, and technical evaluation of research experiments and results. Summarize results for admittance in scientific and clientele-oriented publications.

Prepare and write proposals to funding agencies. Maintain financial accounts related to research projects. Supervise undergraduate and/or graduate students and other laboratory, technical, or field staff involved in research. Install, operate, and/or repair research equipment. Qualifications PhD in a related field A well-qualified candidate may also possess: Doctoral degree in Chemistry or a closely related field. Familiarity with appropriate laboratory and/or technical equipment. Ability to effectively utilize a computer and applicable software to create databases, perform statistical analyses, present data, and perform other computer related tasks.

Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others. Salary: Compensation will be commensurate based on the selected candidate’s education and experience. Special Note : Due to this position’s salary having all or a portion of it being funded by grants or contracts, the continuing salary and overall employment is contingent upon availability of these funds in the future.
