Job Overview:
We are seeking a motivated and creative Imprint Lithography Engineer to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for developing and optimizing methods for replicating micro and nano-structure geometry to fit the needs of various industries.

Chromatir is a micro-optics design and origination startup based in State College, Pennsylvania. We develop structurally colored films that produce vibrant, tunable colors without the use of dyes or pigments using microstructures that reflect and interfere with light. Our specially engineered surfaces and films offer unique visual effects ideal for applications in security, signage, packaging, apparel, and more. We’re a small, collaborative team translating cutting-edge research into scalable, real-world products.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and test micro-structure replication methods and materials for improved structure fidelity, interfacial and optical properties
- Optimize surface treatment protocols for materials involved in micro/nano-optic feature replication
- Characterize surface, optical, and mechanical properties of diverse material configurations
- Assist in the design of experiments that inform changes to the lithography process to positively impact replication fidelity
- Collaborate with customers and potential partners to understand and guide project requirements and deliverables
- Identify and source new polymer materials for testing
- Prepare samples for customer discovery and in-house development
- Prepare technical documentation, including schematics, reports, and specifications
- Ensure designs comply with relevant codes, standards, and regulations
- Maintain awareness of new technology trends and tools
- Participate in weekly lab clean-ups, including equipment maintenance and other routine procedures
Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Materials Science, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or related field
- Foundational understanding of optical, chemical, and mechanical properties of materials
- Strong analytical problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Excellent communication skills
- Fine-motor skills
- Ability to work in a team-based environment with an emphasis on collaboration and coordination
- Familiarity with project management and organizational tools
Preferred:
- Master’s degree or 3+ years of experience in optics, polymer engineering, lithography or other related areas
- Proficiency in C++ or similar object-oriented programming language
- Cleanroom Experience
- Experience with Optical Profilometry, Electron Microscopy, Photolithography
