What to Expect

Tesla's LFP Cell Manufacturing is ramping, and non-conforming material is how yield is recovered and scrap is minimized. The NCM Lead Technician is the working lead on shift, responsible for disposition quality, technician capability, aging control, and day-to-day floor execution. You will own NCM execution and keep the standard intact when leadership is not on the floor. You stay close to the process, spend a meaningful share of the shift hands-on, and lead from the floor rather than from a desk. You will train technicians, drive disposition quality, reduce aging, and sustain 5S while partnering with Quality, Production Engineering, and Production.

NCM surfaces process issues in real time so defects return to the line that created them. As the shift lead, you set floor direction, support technician performance, and escalate attendance or performance concerns to the supervisor the same day.

What You'll Do

• Serve as the working lead on shift, responsible for disposition quality, technician capability, aging control, and day-to-day floor execution
• Execute, teach, and certify NCM standard work across identification, containment, judgement, rework, return-to-line, scrap, and MES transactions
• Act as the first technical stop on shift, resolving playbook issues on the floor and escalating gaps with a clear recommendation
• Set the standard on Take Charge, PPE, lockout, and chemical handling with zero open safeguard actions in NCM
• Keep product moving with first-pass disposition, and leave no aged unit without an owner and a next action
• Track and report shift performance on the board: material aging and oldest 10, input vs good output, top scrap drivers, and open 5S findings
• Lead daily 5S in NCM and keep the area audit-ready

What You'll Bring

• 2+ years in high-volume manufacturing, quality, material disposition, or electronics
• Demonstrated ability to train others and uphold a consistent standard
• Accurate in MES transactions, scanner workflows, and Excel
• Able to interpret work instructions, refine for clarity and usability, and train the team to run the standard correctly
• Able to work 12-hour shifts, weekends, overtime, and changing shift patterns as lines ramp
• Able to stand most of the shift, work in PPE and dry-room conditions as required, and lift up to 40 lbs.

Preferred

• Tesla experience in production, quality, or NCM with working knowledge of site systems, flow, and floor pace
• Hands-on battery cell manufacturing process knowledge
• Lead experience directing work, holding a standard, and covering the floor
• Trainer experience developing skill on standard work, certifying readiness, and keeping the team current
• Quality-inspector experience judging product to spec, containing risk, and documenting disposition decisions
• 5S or layered-audit experience running area standards, closing findings fast, and keeping the workspace audit-ready
• Active PIT or forklift certification
