Position Summary

Markdom is seeking an experienced Process Engineer to support our injection molding manufacturing operations. This position will be responsible for developing, optimizing, troubleshooting, and maintaining robust injection molding processes that consistently meet safety, quality, productivity, and cost objectives.

The ideal candidate is a hands-on engineer who is comfortable working directly on the manufacturing floor with Process Technicians, Maintenance, Tooling, Quality, and Production teams. This individual will play an important role in improving existing processes, reducing scrap and downtime, supporting new product launches, and driving continuous improvement throughout the plant.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, establish, and optimize injection molding processes for new and existing products.
• Troubleshoot molding defects, process variation, cycle-time issues, scrap, and equipment-related problems.
• Establish and maintain documented process parameters and standardized manufacturing processes.
• Analyze process data and identify opportunities to improve quality, throughput, cycle time, and overall equipment effectiveness.
• Lead root-cause analysis and corrective actions for manufacturing and quality issues.
• Support new mold trials, product launches, engineering changes, and production validation activities.
• Work closely with Process Technicians, Production, Quality, Maintenance, Tooling, and Engineering teams.
• Identify and implement opportunities to reduce scrap, labor, downtime, and manufacturing costs.
• Assist with troubleshooting injection molding machines, auxiliary equipment, automation, material handling systems, and tooling.
• Support continuous improvement activities using Lean manufacturing and problem-solving methodologies.
• Develop process documentation, work instructions, setup standards, and training materials.
• Participate in PFMEA, control plan, APQP, PPAP, and other automotive quality activities.
• Support customer requirements and corrective actions when process-related concerns arise.
• Provide technical support and training to Process Technicians and production personnel.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Plastics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related technical field preferred.
• 3+ years of experience in injection molding, plastics manufacturing, or a similar high-volume manufacturing environment preferred.
• Strong understanding of injection molding processes, tooling, materials, and equipment.
• Experience troubleshooting molding defects and establishing repeatable processing windows.
• Automotive or Tier 1 manufacturing experience strongly preferred.
• Familiarity with IATF 16949, APQP, PPAP, PFMEA, control plans, and structured problem solving is preferred.
• Experience with scientific molding principles is a plus.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and root-cause problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work across multiple departments.
