Role details

Job ID: 115253 The Electro Optical Infrared Systems (EOIS) line of business within DRS has locations in Dallas and Austin, TX, Melbourne, FL, and Cypress, CA. EOIS develops, manufactures, and supports infrared and electro-optical solutions for soldiers, ground vehicles and airborne platforms. We offer an exciting and challenging work environment, a competitive salary and benefits package, and a business culture that rewards performance. Employing the world’s brightest. Supporting the world’s bravest. - Job Summary Leonardo DRS is looking for a confident, highly motivated Scientist with semiconductor processing experience to join our Research and Development team.

We are looking for a strong candidate with experience in processing areas such as photolithography, thin films, etch, and wet processing. The candidate should be able to learn new tools and processes from both a fundamental and practical level. This is a hands-on role, largely in the cleanroom, where the candidate will be responsible for maintaining, improving, and developing semiconductor processes to meet R&D goals and objectives. As a Scientist, you will be an integral part of DRS’ new product and technology development efforts in infrared sensors.

You will interface with other team members representing a wide range of disciplines, including material science, process engineering, device physics, test engineering, and system design. You will have hands on responsibility for specialized semiconductor processes and process development, new detector fabrication, experimental design, and device characterization. In addition, you will be the technical and/or project lead on critical development projects guiding both technical direction as well as coordination of key technical resources Job Responsibilities Experiment, perform DOEs, and establish methods and procedures to sustain current processes as well as drive continuous improvements.

Learn new process tools and process areas, characterize process inputs and outputs, identify metrology or control gaps, and provide solutions. Identify processing conditions which will best achieve the device design goals. Understand process yield and yield analysis Communicate technical concepts and assess process technology with engineers and scientists to ensure project success. Construct and execute experimental plans to solve problems. Identify key input and output variables and provide analysis of results. Participate and contribute to multi-disciplinary project teams Organize, interpret, and present results to technical peers as well as to upper management or customers.

Accept responsibility and accountability. Qualifications Education: Masters degree in relevant discipline such as Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Chemistry, Physics, or Electrical Engineering Experience: 2+ years in semiconductor device processing and process engineering Knowledge and hands-on experience with semiconductor fabrication process modules such as etch, thin films, metrology, and wet and dry cleans. Ability to understand and analyze data related to semiconductor device performance Strong analytical and problem solving skills The candidate must be organized, proactive, and able to communicate to both highly technical and programmatic audiences with equal ease.

U.S citizenship is required. Must be able to meet security standards and able to obtain a secret clearance. Preferred Skills and Experience 5+ years of semiconductor fabrication experience. Familiarity with photomask layout software. Prior experience or willingness to work in a small R&D semiconductor fab environment. Basics of implementation of statistical process control (SPC) Experience operating and/or interpreting data from a scanning electron microscope, FTIR, ellipsometer, or other thin-film characterization and metrology tools and techniques. MATLAB, MATHCAD, LabView, JMP, SpotFire, MiniTab and other relevant U.S. Citizenship required.

This position requires an active DOD security clearance or the ability to obtain such clearance within a reasonable time after commencement of employment.
