Resident Engineer - Automotive Plastics/ Injection Molded Products (Full Benefits Package)

Akkodis is seeking two full-time Resident Engineers - Automotive Plastics/ Injection Molded Products to join our dedicated team in the Detroit Metro area.

As a Resident Engineer, you'll be representing an automotive Tier 1 Supplier at one of two key OEM customers. We are looking for experienced engineers who can work directly at the OEM site and serve as the technical and commercial link between the customer and our internal engineering, sales, manufacturing, and program teams.

The ideal candidate would have experience in plastics injection molding and/or automotive manufacturing, with a strong understanding of part design, commercial quoting, molding processes, quality, and program management. The role will require someone who is comfortable working directly with OEM engineering and purchasing teams, resolving technical issues, supporting new product launches, and identifying opportunities to strengthen the customer relationship.

Starting Pay Range: $95,000 to $125,000/yr (pay commensurate based on experience and education levels).

Resident Engineer - Automotive Plastics/ Injection Molded Products job responsibilities include:

• *Acting as the primary engineering interface between our company and the OEM*
• *Supporting quoting, new business development, and cost-reduction initiatives*
• *Supporting product and process development from concept through production launch*
• *Coordinating design reviews, tooling, mold trials, and engineering changes*
• *Troubleshooting molding, tooling, dimensional, and quality issues*
• *Working closely with OEM engineering, purchasing, quality, and program teams*
• *Communicating customer requirements internally and driving timely resolution*
• *Maintaining strong day-to-day customer relationships*

QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelors degree is required.
• Ideally, 4+ years of relevant engineering experience, preferably within automotive plastics, injection molding, tooling, or a Tier 1/Tier 2 supplier environment.
• Strong communication, problem-solving, project management, and customer-facing skills are essential.
