POSITION SUMMARY

The Mold Technician will work under the supervision of technical personnel on a variety of projects ranging from 3D printer maintenance and support, mold and tooling maintenance, and mold and tooling assembly and implementation for the production of healthcare education simulators. The person filling this position will have a familiarity with working in a production environment and will be required to both follow detailed instructions and utilize best judgment in approaching a problem.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED****

Receives direct supervision from management personnel; assists other department employees in the performance of their job functions. This position does not exercise supervision over any other position.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Clean and assemble molds.
• Clean and assemble tooling.
• Clean and process production components.
• Repair molds as necessary.
• Implement molds and tooling in production.
• Manufacture molds as necessary.
• Perform test runs on molds.
• Perform daily, weekly, and quarterly maintenance on 3D printers
• Maintain solvent bath and all parts or molds associated with it.
• Perform 3D printer cartridge recycling weekly.
• Provide support for prototyping, mold and sample build, and testing.
• Daily supervision and operation of the 3D printers.
• Responsible for keeping the inventory of 3D printer consumables.
• Responsible for maintaining and organizing designated workshops.
• Work in collaboration with Engineers to accomplish all other necessary tasks.
• Other duties as necessary

QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• At least 2 years of manufacturing experience working in a laboratory-type environment.
• Experience and/or knowledge of polymer processing and molding techniques
• Experience working with hand tools.
• Experience working with different kinds of electro-mechanical equipment in a maintenance or service capacity.
• Experience working with silicones, urethanes, 2-part epoxies and similar a plus.
• Excellent organizational skills with strong attention to detail and accuracy

PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS

• Excellent manual dexterity and fine motor skills.
• Frequent use of the arms, hands, and fingers is required to perform functions such as reaching, grabbing, pinching, picking, holding, and turning.
• Frequent use of hand and power tools and molds weighing up to 25lbs.
• The employee is interchangeably required to sit, stand, and walk during their shift.
• Employees may be required to bend, stoop or kneel to grab supplies and or materials
• The employee must be able to lift, carry, push, or pull or move objects across the production floor, weighing up to 50 pounds with or without reasonable accommodation.
• The employee may be required to reach at or below shoulder level and reach overhead for short to moderate periods.
• Must be able to hear, understand, and distinguish sounds and speak clearly.
• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Hours: Monday to Friday 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM. Must be willing and able to work some Saturdays or stay beyond scheduled hours if needed.
