Summary of the Role

As an Injection Mold Lead, you will set up and operate injection molding machines to produce high-quality plastic parts while providing day-to-day leadership and support to the production team. You will serve as the primary point of contact for operators by training new hires, answering questions, troubleshooting process and equipment issues, and ensuring production, quality, and safety standards are consistently met. Working closely with the manufacturing team, you will help drive efficient operations, employee development, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Issue, stage, and monitor materials for production jobs to support uninterrupted manufacturing operations.
  • Train, mentor, and onboard new employees, ensuring they understand job responsibilities, quality expectations, safety procedures, and company standards.
  • Serve as the first point of contact for operators by providing guidance, answering questions, and assisting with troubleshooting production and process issues.
  • Set molds and tooling using an overhead crane while following established safety procedures and setup requirements.
  • Process and operate injection molding machines utilizing scientific molding principles and best practices.
  • Monitor production performance and make process adjustments as needed to maintain quality, efficiency, and output goals.
  • Perform visual and dimensional inspections using measuring tools and inspection equipment to ensure product conformity.
  • Trim gates, remove flashing, perform part marking, and verify finished products meet customer and engineering requirements.
  • Troubleshoot molding processes, identify root causes of manufacturing issues, and implement corrective actions to minimize downtime.
  • Perform minor machine maintenance and coordinate with maintenance personnel when additional support is required.
  • Operate a forklift to safely move molds, materials, and finished goods throughout the facility.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment while supporting 5S and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Support production scheduling priorities and coordinate with supervisors and team members to meet production goals and delivery commitments.
  • Promote a culture of teamwork, accountability, quality, and safety by leading through example and supporting employee development.

Schedule: Monday to Thursday, 5:30am to 4:00pm

Education and Experience

  • 5+ years of plastic injection molding experience required.
  • Previous lead, trainer, mentor, or supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Experience with scientific molding processes and a strong understanding of plastics processing principles and techniques.

Compensation range: $38.00-43.00/hour
