APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS: CURRENT PENN STATE EMPLOYEE (faculty, staff, technical service, or student), please login to Workday to complete the internal application process . Please do not apply here, apply internally through Workday. CURRENT PENN STATE STUDENT (not employed previously at the university) and seeking employment with Penn State, please login to Workday to complete the student application process. Please do not apply here, apply internally through Workday. If you are NOT a current employee or student, please click “Apply” and complete the application process for external applicants . Approval of remote and hybrid work is not guaranteed regardless of work location.

For additional information on remote work at Penn State, see Notice to Out of State Applicants . This is a term position; length of the term will be discussed during the interview process. Continuation past the term length discussed will be based on university need, performance, and/or availability of funding. POSITION SPECIFICS The laboratory of Professor Katherine (Kallie) Willets in the Department of Chemistry, at The Pennsylvania State University, seeks to fill multiple postdoctoral research positions in the area of single entity characterization using optical and electrochemical microscopy tools.

Research will focus on structure-function correlation of single nanoparticles to understand how heterogeneity in nanoparticle morphology, interfaces, and local environment affect performance in electrochemical, catalytic, and sensing applications. The successful candidate should demonstrate extensive experience in optical microscopy of single entities, including knowledge of instrumentation development and design. Applicants must have recently received, or be scheduled to receive, a Ph.D. in Chemistry by the time employment starts. The individual should be self-motivated and is expected to lead the projects, as well as contribute to collaborative research efforts.

Interested and qualified applicants must submit applications electronically to include a cover letter describing your research background to include prior training, and research interests, as well as a CV. Review of applicants will begin immediately and continue until the positions are filled. Following a screening of initial application materials, candidates will be contacted by email asking for letters of reference to be sent. BACKGROUND CHECKS/CLEARANCES Employment with the University will require successful completion of background check(s) in accordance with University policies.
