Position Summary
Qnity Electronics is seeking a highly experienced
Senior Applications & Product Development Scientist
to join our Semiconductor Technologies team in Marlborough, Massachusetts. This role will lead the development, characterization, scale-up, commercialization, and customer implementation of advanced electronic materials used in semiconductor manufacturing.
The ideal candidate is a hands-on technical leader with deep expertise in semiconductor materials and process development who can bridge laboratory innovation, manufacturing execution, product quality, and customer applications. This individual will play a critical role in bringing new products to market, optimizing process performance, improving yields, and solving complex technical challenges for customers and manufacturing partners.
This position is 100% onsite located in our Marlborough, MA location. Candidates who currently live within a daily commutable distance to this location will be given priority.

What You'll Do
- Lead the development and commercialization of advanced electronic materials, including formulation, characterization, application testing, scale-up, manufacturing transfer, and customer qualification.
- Establish structure-property-process-performance relationships to improve material performance, product robustness, and manufacturing consistency.
- Design and execute laboratory, cleanroom, and customer-site evaluations utilizing statistical analysis and Design of Experiments (DOE) methodologies.
- Collaborate with R&D, Applications Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, Marketing, Sales, and Supply Chain teams to successfully launch new products.
- Develop best-known methods, technical recommendations, process windows, and test protocols that meet customer and business requirements.
- Lead complex root-cause investigations involving product performance, manufacturing processes, customer applications, and quality issues.
- Drive corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) across cross-functional teams and external partners.
- Support installation, qualification, optimization, and troubleshooting of semiconductor material processes at customer, foundry, OEM, and equipment supplier sites.
- Prepare and present technical reports, customer presentations, development updates, and commercialization documentation.
- Foster a culture of safety, quality, innovation, and continuous improvement.
Required Qualifications
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Polymer Science, or a related technical discipline. Advanced degree preferred.
- 10+ years of industrial experience in semiconductor materials, electronic materials, lithography, advanced packaging, metallization, dielectric materials, photoresists, photodielectrics, or similar technologies.
- Experience in materials formulation, process development, applications engineering, and product commercialization.
- Hands-on experience working in semiconductor fabs, cleanrooms, applications laboratories, or manufacturing environments.
- Demonstrated success leading product scale-up, manufacturing transfers, customer qualifications, process optimization, troubleshooting, and yield improvement initiatives.
- Strong knowledge of structured problem-solving methodologies, root-cause analysis, CAPA processes, statistical methods, and DOE.
- Proficiency with JMP, Minitab, MATLAB, or similar data analysis tools.
- Excellent communication, project leadership, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally as business needs require.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with dielectric polymers, metallization chemistries, photoresists, photodielectrics, dry films, or semiconductor packaging materials.
- Knowledge of metallization and photoresist chemistry across various wavelengths and process platforms.
- Experience with analytical and metrology techniques including SEM, optical microscopy, profilometry, XRF, UV-Vis, CVS, LPC, or similar methods.
- Experience qualifying and supporting lithography, coating, plating, or semiconductor process equipment.
- Knowledge of ISO 9001 or related quality-management systems; lead auditor experience is a plus.
- Six Sigma certification or equivalent continuous improvement training.
- Experience working directly with semiconductor manufacturers, foundries, OEMs, or equipment suppliers.
