Role details

CLEANROOM MILLER ISO Class 7 Cleanroom Operations Department Cleanroom Operations Job Title Cleanroom Miller Reports To Cleanroom Supervisor General Description Produce cleanroom rubber and silicone compounds by accurately weighing, combining, and milling approved materials using designated cleanroom mixing and milling equipment. Prepare material in the correct quantity, form, and weight according to the mold schedule and approved work instructions. The goal is to have properly identified, packaged, and conditioned material available before molding requires it while preventing contamination, material mix-ups, and loss of traceability.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Accurately use calibrated scales to check-weigh base materials, colorants, additives, samples, and prepared material within specified tolerances.
  • Operate designated cleanroom mixing and milling equipment, including Ross-type mixers or other approved equipment, according to the Job Instruction Sheet (JIS), milling order, cutting record, and established operating procedures.
  • Prepare rubber or silicone material in the required size, shape, quantity, and weight using approved cleanroom tools and cutting techniques.
  • Verify the correct material identity, lot number, formulation, colorant or additive, quantity, equipment, tooling, and documentation before beginning each job.
  • Follow approved addition sequences and special handling instructions to achieve uniform dispersion while preventing concentrated colorant or additives from contacting unapproved surfaces.
  • Maintain strict containment and segregation of compounds, ingredients, tools, containers, work surfaces, and documentation throughout weighing, milling, cutting, packaging, and transfer.
  • Perform complete line clearance and equipment cleaning between jobs to prevent cross-contamination, carryover, and material or lot mix-ups.
  • Monitor material appearance, consistency, temperature, dispersion, and other required in-process characteristics; stop work and consult Supervision or Quality when results or instructions require verification.
  • Accurately enter milling and preparation information, record actual material usage and yield, and produce required bin tags for material identification and batch traceability.
  • Package, label, condition, and store prepared compounds according to established shelf-life, cleanliness, temperature, and material-control requirements.
  • Prioritize work according to the approved mold schedule so prepared material is available before the molding operation requires it.
  • Learn to prepare all assigned cleanroom compounds using the applicable mixing, milling, weighing, and material-preparation equipment.
  • Perform assigned work in an ISO Class 7 cleanroom and comply with all cleanroom gowning, hygiene, entry, material-transfer, and contamination-control requirements.
  • Follow approved methods, Job Instruction Sheets (JIS), customer specifications, and established ISO procedures.
  • Use proper line-clearance procedures and maintain segregation of product, materials, tools, and documentation.
  • Use bin tags and routing information to move product accurately to the next required operation.
  • Inspect product and process output as assigned; identify and communicate damaged, contaminated, mixed, or otherwise nonconforming product.
  • Accurately record and communicate production data using the APPX ERP system and required production documentation.
  • Follow standard safety procedures, Safety Data Sheet (SDS) requirements, and personal protective equipment requirements.
  • Effectively communicate with Leads, Supervisors, Quality, Engineers, and co-workers within and between departments.
  • Consistently meet productivity expectations while maintaining product quality and cleanroom compliance.
  • Demonstrate regular and consistent attendance and work overtime when requested or required.

Additional Duties and Responsibilities

  • Maintain acceptable housekeeping standards and keep the work area orderly in accordance with the 6-S Program.
  • Support cleanroom line clearance, cleaning, and material movement activities as assigned.
  • Learn additional cleanroom processes and provide assistance in other departments as needed with limited supervision.
  • Actively foster an atmosphere of teamwork.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Supervisor or Lead.

Prerequisite Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent desired.
  • Basic computer skills and the ability to learn the APPX ERP system.
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and comprehend written and verbal instructions in English.
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations and accurately complete production records.
  • Ability to follow detailed instructions and learn inspection techniques, procedures, scales, and other measuring devices.
  • Legible handwriting or printing.
  • Ability to work well with others and build positive working relationships.
  • Reliable, responsible, and able to use time effectively while working independently at a steady pace.
  • Detail-oriented, quality-focused, safety-conscious, and flexible in assigned duties.

Physical and Work Environment Requirements

  • Good vision, with or without corrective lenses, including the ability to distinguish material condition and color differences.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive hand, wrist, and material-handling tasks.
  • Fine motor skills and good hand/eye coordination for precision weighing, material addition, cutting, and packaging.
  • Ability to lift 55 pounds regularly and up to 66 pounds occasionally, using assistance or approved lifting devices when required.
  • Ability to wear required ISO Class 7 cleanroom garments and applicable hand, eye, respiratory, hearing, and other personal protective equipment.
  • Ability to work safely around moving rolls, blades, heated material, mixing equipment, and approved process chemicals or colorants.
