Position Summary

The Composites Manufacturing Engineer is a key member of our manufacturing engineering team; the position is accountable for minimizing variation, increasing productivity, and increasing efficiencies. The position requires working with a continuous process improvement mindset. The manufacturing engineering team works cohesively within our production process to deliver a timely and quality product.

Job Responsibilities: • Accountable for composite manufacturing processes to optimize product flow and reduce variation • Responsible for process improvement via root cause analysis, solution development, documentation, training, and implementation • Acquires and analyzes process and data to understand and measure process improvements • Implement new technology and equipment into composite fabrication processes to achieve efficiencies or meet customer expectations • Assist with new model prototyping and introduction to production • Responsible for accuracy of drawings and bills of material related to assigned projects • Create component and material layout drawings for composites build documentation • Document as-built information to ensure accuracy • Create, implement, and catalog Engineering Change Notices related to composite fabrication • Develop and/or maintain HCB composites manufacturing standards • Develop and/or maintain all standards relating to adhesive, caulks, and silicone • Other duties as necessary

Qualification Requirements: • Bachelor’s degree – Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, or Mechanical preferred • Must have experience with various types of composite manufacturing processes, including gel coating, vacuum infusion, resin transfer molding, open molding, and tooling fabrication • Must have experience utilizing engineering tools and methods in a manufacturing environment • Good written and oral communication skills, and ability to work independently on assigned tasks • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and 2D/3D CAD (NX, Rhino, AutoCad preferred) • Must have the ability to work with all levels of the organization • Must be willing to be “hands on” while working with the composites production crew on the manufacturing floor
