About the position
E Ink is seeking an Analytical Scientist that is responsible for performing routine and advanced analytical measurements on materials used in E Ink displays, including particles, colloidal dispersions, polymers, inks. This role combines hands-on laboratory work with analytical method development and continuous improvement of characterization techniques. Working closely with senior scientists, you will help answer fundamental questions about material behavior, investigate unexpected experimental results, and develop analytical methods that deepen our understanding of material and process performance.
We are looking for someone who enjoys asking "why," is driven to uncover root causes, and is motivated by learning how materials behave.
Responsibilities
- Develop characterization techniques for materials and processes used in colloidal dispersions to connect to device performance, develop critical-to-function analytical metrics
- Establish process-structure-property relationships through fundamental mechanism studies, test method introductions, and root cause analysis.
- Improve existing analytical methods to increase measurement accuracy, repeatability, throughput, and robustness.
- Develop, optimize, validate, and standardize analytical test methods, design and perform Gage R&R.
- Prepare samples, routine characterization of particles, inks, and formulations using analytical instrumentation.
- Operate, maintain, troubleshoot, and calibrate analytical instruments to ensure reliable and reproducible measurements.
- Analyze data and document results in laboratory notebooks and technical reports.
- Maintain laboratory equipment, supplies, and documentation in accordance with EH&S and laboratory best practices.
- Collaborate effectively with cross-functional R&D.
- Follow laboratory safety procedures and contribute to a safe, organized, and efficient work environment.
Qualifications
- PhD Degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or a closely related field.
- 0-3 years of industrial experience in analytical chemistry, materials characterization, or a related laboratory environment.
- Naturally curious with a passion for understanding the science behind material behavior rather than simply generating data.
- Enjoys asking questions, challenging assumptions, and exploring the underlying mechanisms behind experimental observations.
- Hands-on, detail-oriented laboratory scientist who takes pride in producing accurate and reliable data.
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills with a data-driven approach.
- Strong organizational, documentation, and time management skills.
- Collaborative team player who enjoys working in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary research environment.
Benefits
- Competitive Total Compensation Package
- Medical, Dental and Vision on 1st day
- Company 401K match
- Paid Time Off & Holidays
