This position is targeted for the rank of associate and full professor; however, exceptional faculty with experience close to this level may be considered.

The J. Crayton Pruitt Family Department of Biomedical Engineering at the University of Florida is a leading institution dedicated to pioneering innovative biomedical solutions for healthcare improvement in Florida and globally. UF BME uniquely benefits from UF's exceptionally fertile environment, as one of only a handful of universities with co-located, top-ranked colleges of engineering, medicine, veterinary medicine, and dentistry, along with robust infrastructure in engineering, biotechnology, and artificial intelligence. UF BME faculty are working in highly innovative research areas that fully leverage recent advancements in biotechnology, AI, and clinical care.

The activities of our faculty range from collaborations with clinicians and the translation of their products to patients to discovery-based work creating new materials and approaches to more effectively treat or cure various pathologies. For this recruitment cycle, key research areas of emphasis include: 1) Holistic, AI-Driven Precision Healthcare (e.g., AI-driven population segmentation for therapeutics, AI approaches in omics, computational pathology & imaging); 2) Engineering Healthspan (e.g., engineering approaches addressing aging, mobility, biomechanics, and pain); and 3) Immune instructive biomaterials (e.g., cancer immunotherapy, autoimmunity, anti-inflammatory).

Our department already has a strong international presence in these research areas; thus, recruited faculty will join a comprehensive research ecosystem that will further amplify their work.

Faculty members will be expected to teach undergraduate and graduate courses within Departmental curricula, initiate and sustain externally sponsored research programs, recruit and supervise graduate students, and engage in service activities for the University and the profession. Applicants must possess a PhD in Biomedical Engineering or a related field. Evidence of dedication to excellence in research and scholarly achievements, teaching, and service is required. The candidate should have a record of successful proposal writing, PhD student mentoring, scholarship, and classroom teaching.

The J. Crayton Pruitt Family Department of Biomedical Engineering at the University of Florida (https://bme.ufl.edu/) is home to 30 primary and more than 70 affiliated faculty members advancing every area of biomedical engineering, with continued growth expected in the coming years.
