Job Description
We are seeking a
Quality Engineer II
for our Huntington, Indiana Plant.
Position Summary
In this position, you will be the face of the facility to the customer. This is a hands-on position. You will be working with production, quality, and engineering, and are responsible for the quality of your assigned program.
Essential Job Functions
- Become familiar with customer Specific Quality System Requirements including the customer specific portal.
- Act as liaison with external parties (customer & supplier) on matters relating to assigned product.
- Head all APQP efforts, responsible for reviewing and updating as needed.
- Process flow diagrams.
- Process control plans.
- Process Failure Mode and Effect Analysis plans.
- Manufacturing work instructions.
- Quality Inspection instructions.
- Error proofing effectiveness.
- Internally collected variable and attribute data.
- BOM accuracy.
- Responsible for managing customer issues.
- Internal product sorts / quality alerts.
- Interim corrective actions.
- Permanent corrective actions.
- Answering to the customer on any concerns/issues they have, including written and verbal.
- Train employees to quality issues as needed.
- Develop, document, and provide for continuous improvement in manufacturing processes, production, and quality through layered process auditing and scrap reduction.
- Read and Interpret GD & T and applying that knowledge as needed.
- Perform Problem-solving Techniques.
- Perform Process Capabilities using Statistical Techniques as needed.
- Be familiar with supplier PPAP’s and procedures.
- Supports IATF16949 and ISO14001 initiatives.
- Perform other related duties as required and assigned.
Requirements
- Four year degree required and 10-15 years of quality and/or quality engineering experience in the Automotive Industry.
- Excellent communication skills, verbal and written.
- Must possess strong math skills and mechanical aptitude.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to resolve conflicts and to hand issues involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
