Job Summary

The Department of Chemistryin the College of Arts & Sciences at the University of Kentucky invites applicants for a tenure-eligible faculty position at the Advanced Associate or Full Professor level in Biological or Biomaterials chemistry. We seek candidates with interests in medicinal chemistry or chemical biology with an emphasis on cancer research. The ability to collaborate with other researchers in Chemistry and the Markey Cancer Center is highly desirable.

The Department of Chemistry along with the Markey Cancer Center (Kentucky’s NCI Comprehensive Cancer Center) offer an inspiring, supportive and collaborative work environment that includes a broad range of faculty expertise with research interests spanning chemical biology, biochemistry, biophysics, structural biology, cancer biology, systems pharmacology, cell biology, immunology, material science, protein engineering and medicine.

We seek imaginative and creative scientists interested in building an innovative research program in cancer medicinal chemistry/chemical biology. Teaching responsibilities for this position will include instruction in the core undergraduate and graduate organic and/or biological chemistry courses. The successful candidate will also be expected to mentor PhD students and postdoctoral fellows. The anticipated Distribution of Effort will be 30% teaching, 55% research, and 15% departmental service. This is a full time (9-month) facultyappointment with an anticipated start date of August 1, 2027
