  • Participate in supplier selection, in-house or outsourced
  • Oversee prototyping and testing against requirements, including thermal, mechanical, and chemical analysis
  • Solve design problems and resolve tolerance issues
  • Scrutinize and review detailed cost estimates
  • Lead design reviews to confirm customer and performance requirements are met
  • Participate in tooling selection and approve tooling based on sample results
  • Support evaluation of pilot production runs and resolve production issues
  • Prepare and approve technical literature, and train teams on new products

WHAT YOU BRING

  • BS in Chemical, Materials, or Polymer Engineering (MS a plus)
  • BS or MS in Mechanical Engineering with experience in rubber/elastomers or plastics/polymers will also be considered
  • 2–5 years of experience in material selection, testing, and validation preferred
  • Knowledge of polymeric material testing and failure analysis
  • Demonstrated problem-solving and analytical skills to resolve technical issues
  • Excellent verbal/written communication and presentation skills
  • Strong computer skills in standard MS Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project)
  • Able to travel globally as required, up to 20%

WHAT SETS YOU APART

  • Coating materials selection and testing knowledge
  • Thermoplastic and thermoset materials knowledge, from commodity grades to complex engineering grades
  • Experience with Finite Element Analysis (FEA) for part optimization with polymer-based products and materials; Abaqus or Ansys preferred
