Role Overview
As a Laboratory Technician, you will prepare electrode materials, fabricate sheet-type electrodes, and run electrochemical experiments in support of ongoing R&D and scale-up efforts. You will work closely with electrochemists and engineers to ensure consistent, well-documented lab operations.
This is a hands-on, execution-focused role requiring precision, consistency, and strong lab discipline.
What You'll Do
- Fabricate sheet-type electrodes, including slurry preparation, forming, calendaring, and punching/cutting to spec.
- Assemble electrochemical test cells (e.g., three-electrode systems, flow cells, or custom lab setups) for experimentation.
- Run electrochemical experiments and characterization tests, such as cyclic voltammetry, EIS, and galvanostatic/potentiostatic cycling.
- Operate and maintain lab equipment, including potentiostats/galvanostats, mixers, coaters, and press equipment.
- Track and record experimental parameters, results, and observations with high attention to detail.
- Maintain lab organization, inventory of materials/consumables, and equipment calibration schedules.
- Follow and help refine standard operating procedures (SOPs) for electrode fabrication and testing.
- Support troubleshooting of process or equipment issues as they arise.
- Collaborate with the engineering team to relay experimental feedback that informs system and process design.
- Adhere to lab safety protocols, including proper handling of chemicals and electrochemical materials.
Qualifications
- Preferred bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field, or equivalent hands-on laboratory experience
- Prior experience working in a lab environment (academic, industry, or applied research)
Core Requirements
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow precise experimental protocols
- Comfort working with lab chemicals and adherence to safety practices
Preferred
- Hands-on experience with electrode fabrication or materials preparation (e.g., slurry mixing, coating, casting)
- Familiarity with electrochemical testing equipment (potentiostats, cyclers, or similar)
- Background in battery, fuel cell, or electrolysis electrode fabrication
- Familiarity with data analysis tools (Excel, Origin, Python, or similar)
- Exposure to pilot-scale or scale-up lab environments
What We're Looking For
- A
detail-oriented, reliable
mindset — comfortable with repetitive, precision-driven lab work
- Strong organizational habits and clear documentation practices
- Ability to work well within a small, fast-paced team
- High ownership and willingness to take initiative
Compensation
Competitive salary and benefits, commensurate with experience
