Role details

Family-owned specialty chemical company is looking for an experienced coatings chemist for their new laboratory in Florida. If you have a chemistry background and 5+ years of experience in a paint and coatings laboratory this could be a great opportunity for you!

Duties

Design advanced 1K (acrylics, alkyds) and 2K (urethane, epoxy) coatings to meet strict customer and internal specifications.
Adapt liquid coatings for aerosol delivery, managing propellant compatibility, pressure, and spray patterns.
Oversee comprehensive testing including adhesion, weathering (QUV), corrosion / chemical resistance, and color matching.
Transition successful lab formulations to full-scale plant manufacturing.
Guide and train junior laboratory chemists in formulation techniques and lab safety.

Technical Qualifications

5+ years of formulating experience in the paint and coatings industry.
Deep knowledge of acrylics, alkyds, 2K polyurethane / polyester, and epoxy-amine chemistries. Resin chemistry experience is a plus.
Direct experience with industrial, automotive aftermarket, agricultural, or marine coatings.
Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Polymer Science, or a related field.
